Most Overrated Player?

Andre

International Regular
Pollock is perhaps the best player in the South African team. Same can be said about Ponting in the Australian One-Day team, and Waqar is one of the all-time greats.

I wouldn't say he's been a flop, but he really needs to start putting some of those 20's & 30's into at least 50's.

yea Butcher ! he does some really good batting to save england at times

he and thorpe are good batsmen at tests for england
Please read the earlier pages of the thread for disproof of this. :D

Don't get me started again!!! :D

Only 2 players have scored more Test runs than Butcher in the last 12 months - name them!

And pollock is officially God - Top runscorer, top wicket taker an best economy rate in the NUL 8D

Won't be those two. He's just in a massive purple patch at the moment. The luck will run out soon. :D

Erm.. Sri Lankans. Jayawardene and Sangakkara?

Jayawardene is not definately not overrated at test level, anyone who averages 50 is a good player. But Sangakkara has kind of been like Sinclair.

Sangakarra hes a classy player ? He can be really good on days for the Sri lankans and i think he can perform better than Sinclair!

Sangakkara has a great test record, but a very poor ODI record. He's almost identical to Craig McMillan.

You can't say Jayawardene is overrated, he averages 49 in tests & 32 in ODI's.

Oh right, anwering my teaser!

No on both accounts if what they said on the radio in the Old Trafford Test is right.

Anyone else care to have a stab.

To start with you are incorrect there were three batsman with more runs in the last year.

How about that for a perfect example of "Imagine What He Might Do In The Future" for Dravid. Eight 50's and ONE hundred, yet he still averaged high and scored high.

I shudder to think what he'll do to future bowling attacks when he finally figures out how to go on with it when he gets past 50!

And how about Adam Gilchrist's year? Not bad for 19 innings. 4 hundreds and 4 50's. That's HIS problem; he either gets a hundred or a high 50, or he gets nothing!

My pick who'll be the leading run-scorer next year: Marcus Trescothick (unless everyone figures out what the Aussies did; that he plays with an angled bat) or Rahul Dravid.

At the time they said it, Jayawardene hadn't batted in the Old Trafford Test, so they were correct in saying that only 2 had scored more runs 8D :D 8D
