The Tiger King
Always liked Franklyn Rose as a villain.
haha.......yeah forgotten guy Franklyn Rose........

incidentally this reminds me that Toy Cosier said on air that "Franklyn Rose was rated as the ***iest man in the WI cricket team" by some women's magazine or something

Thought McGrath was a great villain, actually. Worked on a couple of levels: he had his robotic, grooved efficency but there was also that streak of insanity lurking just underneath the metronomic facade with the way he muttered and chuntered to himself as he prowled back to his mark.

Top chap off the pitch, by all accounts, obvz tho.

Greatest villain is Ricky Ponting, has to be him. All villains have bad behaviors etc., but few have the competitiveness of a Ponting.

He's such a great competitor, it's lovely to watch him fail! He has a never-lose-hope or never-say-die attitude. Sometimes when chips are down, Ponting is the man who will never give up but will lose in the end nonetheless. After he lost that great team and his form as a batsman, it was awesome to see him and his team fail match after match but still not giving up. It's actually a great quality, but a prick like me takes sadistic pleasure when all his efforts go in vain.

This last time also, in the world cup quarter-final, he came back as a great batsman, played a gem of a knock, fought his best for a win...but I must admit I really enjoyed watching him break down mentally as his team slowly but surely approached the loss.

...must be because he and his team once stuffed one and all with a devilishly aggressive cricket...

Think cricket needs its villains. It'd lose some of the theatrics if everyone played nice.
Haha we'd just subconsciously adapt and start thinking of some cricketers as villains if they looked a bit sad when they got out.

Definitely. Like Terminator 2.

True. Compared to sports like rugby and hockey we already do.

As far as villians are concerned, the one that comes to mind is Peter Siddle. He looks a thug and even his name sounds like one of those olden day gangsters.

More of a villain's henchman, IMHO. Jaws out of James Bond springs to mind for some reason... :whistling
