Too much of a pretty-boy.
And goes on too much about liking bowling with Lee. We'll be hearing of their engagement any time soon.
Good ODI bowler and everything - but I can see why people might dislike him.
I guess. Most disliked seems a bit extreme though, I was just curious as to the reasons.

Having had a think, I'd like to retract my vote for Ponting. He's my most disliked current cricket, but Hansie has to take the honours really. A disgrace.

I think Hansie should be removed from this list else we should add names like Salim Malik, Md. Azharuddin etc to have a fare competition.

Oh, certainly extreme. No coincidence that just 1 person has mentioned him. But I can see a few reasons why he'd be less liked than plenty.

All match-fixers should, simply, be disliked equally by anyone with a right to call themselves fans of the game of cricket.
And, really, should indeed be removed from such lists as these, because whatever anyone else has done, it does not equal Azhar, Hansie, Salim etc.

In retrospect, choosing Bracken was a bit extreme

Richard has hit the nail on the head in some respects, alas there is more to it - if there is one thing I hate, it's sportsmen coming out with excuses for their team's defeat that doubt the talent's of the opposition - it's one thing for fans to do it, but another for players to. And Bracken did this post-Ashes, despite not being deemed good enough to be involved, and it'sstuck in my mind since then

(He went on about how Jones/Flintoff did not achieve reverse swing because of talent but because of mints etc)

Well - getting the ball into the condition to reverse-swing is where the cheating can possibly occur.
Whatever technique was used to get the ball into the condition, nothing changes the fact that it still takes talent to get the ball to reverse-swing once it's in said condition.

Yes, but do you not agree that to make such comments when completely uninformed is bitter and defamatory?

Of course it is - but even with such comments he could do nothing about the fact that Jones and Flintoff exhibited great skill in their bowling in those 4 Tests.
What I'm saying is - even if they had used minty-saliva rather than just throwing the ball at the ground and using unflavoured-saliva\sweat on one side - it still wouldn't make their bowling any less skilfull, it'd just mean they'd cheated to get what they needed to display their skills.

I see your point

Anyhow that's what I have against Bracken, I think the fact that I kept seeing the story pop up for a couple of weeks embedded it in my mind and I associate Bracken with is sour grapes

I don't know? All I remember is that Simon Jones was incensed! If he retracted his statement then fair play to him, though makes him saying it in the first place seem rather silly

No, I don't think a lot of people would to be honest

Maybe that's why Bracken retracted his statement

I'd have more respect for him for backing-down having made a silly statement than continuing to insist on the truth of it.

Well neither am I but the point is that all South African dislike of him is crazy because he was never amounting to anything there so they didn't actually lose anything.
oh but we did.. And it was a South African at Nottinghamshire who moulded him into an international player..

One good thing about Pietersen is that hopefully its made our esteemed national board look after what we've got at home..

I thought about that, but then we'd have about ten match fixers, and a thread just about crickets darkest era

Did Clive Rice sign him? I thought it was before his time...
I've never heard Pietersen mention him once. In any case, Rice is as much an honourary-Nottingham-er as AAD is an honourary-Brummie.

When were Boards ever good at that sort of thing...

That's an interesting train of thought...
