Tough one here as well. Waqar pre injury was just about the best fast bowling peak ever imo. But then Michael did have his share of extraordinary performances. Tops for me, would be his 14 for at the Oval on a wicket where Wi piled up nearly 700 runs and England 400+.
Pre-injury Waqar was a beast never seen before or since.. My favorite Pakistani bowler and better than Holding IMO.

I often see this never seen peak reference for Waqar. Stats wise, it may be true, but overall how high was his peak?

Did Waqar stand out against good teams during his peak?

Waqars peak began after he retooled his action following an early series in Australia in 1990 until 94, after which he had a back operation in 1995.

During this time, he took 180 wickets in 28 tests @17.

He only had one series against minnows Zimbabwe.

He had back to back series against WI, taking 16 wickets@18 and 19 wickets@20.

He had a memorable series in England with 22 wickets@25.

Two tests against Aus with 10 wickets@25.
