"Cosgrove, though, will not be classed as an overseas player because the left-handed opening batsman has a British passport."

Don't Nannes and Patterson play for Vics as overseas players, due to their home status in England.

If SA still wanted him they could play him as an overseas player. Though Younis and Tanvir are 10 times better.

I thought Nannes had a Dutch passport IIRC?

EU passport = home status for me. They are not counted as an overseas player.
Yup, in a nutshell.

Only spanner is if a player is registered as "local" elsewhere; which is why Ryan Harris had to give up his contract at Sussex despite him being a British subject. IIRC QLD weren't prepared to play him as an overseas player when they signed him from SA.

Interesting Aussies seem to be having a laugh about it, perhaps he might have been needed if Haydos continues to do nothing.. Perhaps a mini Aussie exodus is no bad thing

Australia's Jesse Ryder, except you can afford him to **** off and not play for your country.
