KP dropped ; vents anger on twitter

Well the ECB doesn't select the team, so even if they wanted to send such a message they couldn't have couldn't have done it this way. If there was any message from the selectors, it was for Pietersen, and others, to let them know that no-one - apart from the captain - should regard himself as an automatic selection. Quite right too.

Strauss should be an automatic selection? You're joking, mate. He's ****e.

Surely you have to sack the captain before you can drop him though. And 18 hundreds in 77 Tests suggests someone who can play a bit. But even he was dropped a couple of years back.

Love KP, the fact that he seems to rile everyone else just makes me like him more.
Haha agree so much. Same with Broad as well.
He doesn't rile anyone up. He makes them laugh.

No one would actually be pissed at KP ranting on his Twitter, or having skunk hair, or wanting to go home during a cricket tour to see his girlfriend perform in some dance show.

They just laugh at the hilarity of the **** things he does over and over again.

Do find him a bit irksome myself, don't really have any problem with it on this occasion. Would say he is probably right. There isn't really a profession in the world where it's going to be appropriate for someone to broadcast to the rest of the world how **** you think their bosses are etc... I just don't much care about it on this particular occasion.

So first, South Africa to England.

Now, England to where?

I'm just joking, I love KP's attitude as a batsman. Though I don't think he has done enough to have made a permanent place in the history of cricket yet, not saying that he doesn't have the talent to do so in the future if he keeps his feet on the ground. This kind of behavior was uncalled for, though.

I definitely am glad that KP is pissed off at being dropped, but also would agree that tweeting about it wasn't his finest hour. Kinda funny though and I like having someone in the team who just doesn't give a **** about how he's perceived.

Nah, massive amounts of English fans/media are always moaning about his performances and general attitude. The fact that they get so wound up about him all the time is what I was generally referring to.

I definitely agree that it is good to see a cricketer feeling hurt for being dropped. The last one to show anguish was Kallis when he was dropped for the T20 World Cup for RSA and he proved so well what a valuable T20 player he is since then. KP is one talented batsman and it would be good to see him do his talent justice. Morgan going strong and KP there, England could be a strong outfit in the future. I said it before and I will say it again, I like the shape of England in tests a lot.

Ah fair enough. Thought you meant opposition fans, as KP isn't a guy to piss them off really. They just kind of laugh/shake their head.

Personally I think it's quite healthy for someone to be uncontrollably pissed off at being dropped. I'm sure he'll understand after giving it a while to sink in.

BBC Sport - Cricket - Michael Vaughan condemns Kevin Pietersen Twitter rant

I'm really starting to think we need an "***Official*** STFU Vaughan thread", I seem to be ranting about him every few weeks. Most annoying ex-player since Boycott.
Nah you're way off here. Nothing wrong with this particular Vaughan article.

Seriously I hate these people in all sport, not just cricket, that say "oh we need these characters in the game" when some douchebag has a bitch to the media about their teammates.

It's a team. If you're not happy about it, fine, have a rant, yell and storm out of rooms etc. But do it indoors.

This idea that publicly undermining your team is "interesting" compared to stock standard media answers, and is hence a good thing is one of the crazy things going around modern sports at the moment.

Shows a complete lack of understanding how modern day team environments work.

Hmm but it's easier for opposing fans to laugh at him lately now that they're not getting ****ing owned by him all the time.

What the hell is this "its good to actually see a player hurt for being dropped"

You reckon Michael Clarke wasn't hurt when he was dropped years back? he didn't come out and bitch, but it obviously hurt.

Why is it so important that they have a whinge to satisfy our requirement to know that they are hurt.

Nah disagree. KP was the **** in 2005 but people still were like "wtf is up with your hair and your accent". He's always been someone to poke fun at, and then stand and applaud his batting.

Finding someone a dick doesn't mean you can't appreciate their cricket. KP's always been popular for his cricketing ability among opposition fans.

I think it's more that people get the impression these days that players are just interested in money or whatever, good to see someone wants to play all the time even a ****ty ODI series.

I get what you're saying, but anyway ODIs and T20s are where the money is.

This was a guy whose ego was hurt, and he got angry. Just like any player's ego is hit when they are dropped. Nothing "oh so good to see" about it. We're not owed seeing players feelings.

I don't really overtly disagree with Vaughan here, it just irritates me that he and the BBC seem to think it matters what he has to say about everything. But then he got on my **** as a player too.

I don't think this kind of thing is damaging to the team, personally. Just pretty embarrassing for KP. I'd defend him over the Moores/captaincy incident though.

It's not damaging to England because it was KP who said it.

However if Strauss was dropped as ODI captain (for e.g.) and came out and bitched on his Twitter or in a press conference about it, it would clearly damage the team.

Strauss is pretty deadpan boring at times. But he does what is right for the team

Sure it's be great to have more Ajmal-esque interviews to add a bit of spice to the game. But inner-fighting and complaints is never a "good thing", despite it being interesting to read.

In this case it wasn't even interesting to read. It was just "oh KP isn't happy being dropped". At least Afridi hitting Asif with a bat was something entertaining. Even more entertaining now
