And boy, did not Warne outthink Buchanan in the IPL? With less heralded players. That man Buchanan has some really stupid ideas. Very overrated, the quality of the players he had available to him made him look good. It's one of the reasons he hasn't been asked to coach another major side other than England (who's admins are retards). What possible benefit could multiple captains have, surely one of them is better than the others? It seems to me like nothing more than a way to give the coach more power over the team by negating a captain's influence and vision.
Gavaskar was harsh on him but he did have some points.
I remember reading an interview with him a while back and he was talking about how he believed cricket was moving towards set plays where you would have a bowler who was amazing at just one ball and the field would be set up for that one ball. He also believed that having substitutes in test cricket would be a massive step in the right direction so you could further specialise and use 'set plays'. Basically it sounded like too much theorising in his own head, never mind taking all the fun out of the game. No surprise at all that Warne hated him.
Well said. And boy, did not Warne outthink Buchanan in the IPL? With less heralded players.
So....that's a captain getting advice from his senior players.Anyway, looks as though the multiple captains thing isn't going to happen. One captain with a group of 'strategists' instead.
My god that would have been worse than the Greg Chappell saga.Buchanan's gone nuts, and to think we once approached him to be India's coach.
throw in SRK and it gets pukeworthyBuchanan, Ganguly and Gavaskar - what a pleasant threesome.
I read the thread title as 'Kolkata to have multiple orgasms' then I saw the above..........and now I feel a little like Stewie Griffin did here;Buchanan, Ganguly and Gavaskar - what a pleasant threesome.
Since you work in the film industury you would have a fair idea I've heard from a lot of my Indian friends that SRK is quite a douchebag is it true?throw in SRK and it gets pukeworthy
actually i was being mean. he is a pretty friendly guy and a real sports lover. what has happened here is that he is forced to take a stand and support his team because gavaskar has accused his coach of bringing in his own people and milking the team owner. shah rukh has done what is needed for the moment and (unless someone keeps stoking this issue) everything will be forgotten in the future.Since you work in the film industury you would have a fair idea I've heard from a lot of my Indian friends that SRK is quite a douchebag is it true?
U heard wrong.. i mean this could be said about salman khan and other afew other actors but SRK is the nicest and most friendly of them all..Since you work in the film industury you would have a fair idea I've heard from a lot of my Indian friends that SRK is quite a douchebag is it true?
Ok good to knowactually i was being mean. he is a pretty friendly guy and a real sports lover. what has happened here is that he is forced to take a stand and support his team because gavaskar has accused his coach of bringing in his own people and milking the team owner. shah rukh has done what is needed for the moment and (unless someone keeps stoking this issue) everything will be forgotten in the future.
to be fair, he has consistently been critical of Buchanan's wacky ideas.. He may be holding the wrong view but he has been quite consistent that he doesn't believe in such ideas as what Buchanan keeps bringing up... And in this instance, I think he is quite right.Gavaskar is just jumping at an opportunity to dish it out to an Australian. In fairness though the multiple captains idea is ridiculous, almost seems like a pulicity stunt.
