Um it’s not unreasonable to predict that the top 4 + Stokes could struggle in Aus. None of them were that great in India this year and Aus will likely be even tougher.

Crawley made 407 runs off of ten innings in India, Reckon he was okay. Plus one of the top 4 was bowling a bunch in the first three matches but that context gets rubbed off

tho doesn't matter anyway as India and Australia are two different worlds batting wise, hope we had a south Africa series in between India and Ashes to figure out where we stand against Bounce but I guess the Ashes will tell.

If the pitches are like the 2021/2022 ashes, then I think Englands batting will really struggle unless Cummins/Hazlewood are injured

don't think they'll make those pitches after Windies, they showed that their batting is just as vulnerable as visiting ones against South-Africa style pitches these days, think they'll still be spicy and bouncy but less so imo, but I think a lot of the series depends on if Root finally goes big in Australia (think he will) and if Brook can develope a frontfoot game good enough to counteract Starc and Lyon.

Cummins said he doesn’t have any control over the pitches. It’s the curators who have decided to prepare spicier pitches.

Regardless of the pitches, Aus will win the series. Don’t think Eng have any batsman that’s capable of having a mega series there (maybe Brook will in the future during his prime).

Why do you glaze that sub Root mf bruh
Imo those conditions and bowlers don’t suit Roor and I think he’s a bit past his peak (still great at home tho). I rate him very highly against spin and fast medium bowlers.

Brook looks like potentially a better player against pace and bounce and his peak years are still ahead of him.

Honestly think I see your vision when it comes to playing Cummins/Hazlewood but not really against Lyon and Starcc, Brook doesn't have a decent frontfoot game but has a strong backfoot game on the legside so think he'll do well against prior but struggle against latter tbh. Root's kinda the opposite as his backfoot nudges are a complete liability in Australia.

feel like both Root and Brook will work and we'll see very different versions of Root and Brook down under, probably more Pull/Hooks and less nudges from Root and better front foot play from Brook, think Root will do his best to fix his conversion problem in Australia (he does get starts) but I think expecting a 26 year old to go big in Australia against THIS attack is a bit much imo, tho he'll probably play a good inning.

Based on what?

His average has been trending up for the past few years, but you continue to insist he’s in decline. It’s bizarre
All I’m saying is that I don’t really see him having a great series in Aus even though he scored runs again SL, WI, and Pak on flat pitches this year. I don’t think that’s an unreasonable opinion.

But he’s been piling runs on for the last few years consistently. The fact he did so this year on flat pitches does not suddenly equate to him being in decline. Where do you even begin with that logic?

I guess I should have said he’s still at his peak but I don’t think he’s good enough to have a great series in Aus next year? I apologize.

I mean that is fine. Just own it. You don’t think he’ll go well there, just don’t try and justify it with make believe he’s in decline comments

For the Fab Four in general I think its fair to say Root and Kane are in their peaks and Smith and Kohli are in decline.
