I was about to quibble about the late David Capel, but I thought I'd better check, and you're probably right. I had remembered his occasional triumphs and forgotten his overall test averages of 15.6 and 50.6, unfortunately with bat and ball respectively,.

Botham's averages in his last 5 years were 20.4 and 55.6.
The other pseudo-all-rounders (i.e. bowlers who the selectors may have hoped would score a few runs) in that 5-year spell were:
Phil Newport: 27.50, 41.70
Chris Lewis: 26.64, 35.61
Derek Pringle: 13.33, 34.86
Philip DeFreitas: 11.86, 30.54
and I guess you could include John Emburey: 31.23, 62.78

Also Ben Hollioake, who was about the only whose figures were worse than those of 1987-1992 Botham .

I don't think Tudor was picked as a prospective all-rounder - apart from his 99* as nightwatchman he never batted higher than 8 (and his batting average outside that Test was also 8). Cork was also usually batting at 8 or lower.
