Matt, when will the order for the last 3 rounds be going up?
For the last three rounds can we do it like this:

Round 9 random order
Round 10 random order
Round 11 - reverse round 9 order

This way the people who get first pick in round 9 get last pick in round 11 - the two rounds that the bans are lifted.

Rounds 9 and 10 are reverse order of each other. Round 11 is a random order.

The order for round 9 (and therefore 10) will be announced once round 8 is complete.

The order for round 11 will be announced when round 10 is complete.

Why can't we change it to have the random order in round 10 instead?

It's much more valuable to get the early picks when players are unlocked.

Not really, it just depends on what you are after and how many others there are that also need what you want. Remember there are 31 players banned, after round nine 20 of them are free game, that quite a lot. Unless you are after a certain player there's a good chance there will still be someone you need.

Also, I wonder who the banned player that won't be picked is going to be?

Round 9 will actually see a lot of rejections I think (and this is not a hint, I don't have the list open in front of me as I'm typing this). If you're picking aggressively you're trying to select who the 11th, 12th, 13th etc most nominated player is. You might be able to accurately say who the top 5 are, although the current thread on who are the top five of the modern era highlights how varied results are for that question - but who is the 12th most popular? Don't know that going first or last in that round is as big as deal as you'd think...

Hmmm I was under the impression that we were going to learn who the unbanned players were before round 9 started.

Basically round 11 is going to be a "lucky dip to see who gets Bradman", with the consolation prize being Sobers.

Well with the information available now and information based on my own picks, I am reasonably certain that I have constructed the final 31, though I'm not telling anyone

Exactly, especially by the end of round 8, it will be pretty apparent who the 31, with maybe only a couple of surprises.

Basically round 11 is going to be a "lucky dip to see who gets Bradman", with the consolation prize being Sobers.
Except that maybe some people will have already opted to load up on batsmen, and if you've only got three specialist bowlers going into round 11, are you really going to take Bradman, or even Sobers? Therein lies the challenge - how much do you risk leaving open, say a middle order spot, a fast bowler's, or say, a wicket keeper's slot, without knowing at what stage in round 11 you get to pick?

Matt79

They're purely guesses - some based on informed opinion, some, especially for bowlers real guesses. Believe it or not, I don't have Garner and Tyson's batting averages readily available off the top of my head (although actually I thought Tyson averaged something like 12-15?).

It's not that I can't be bothered looking it up, its just that I don't really care about the batting order of your tail, you'll get that right when you post your final team. :p

EDIT: And now I do look it up, Garner averaged 12.75 and Tyson 10.95, so its hardly a yawning gap between the two anyhow...

Garner averaged like 18 in FC cricket. Just never needed to score runs at Test level, so he couldn't be arsed. Very similar to Keith Miller, especially in terms of quality when he could be arsed. ;)

Yeah, again, Garner's FC batting average is not something I've ever spent a lot of time considering, but I'll remember it in future :)

EDIT: And Tyson's FC batting average is 17!

Makes for a good tail, which is never a bad thing, witness SA of a few years back, and Australia's tail of recent times...
