He did get selected to be the coach of the World XI in Super Series last year, so someone must think he does something wright (sorry, couldn't help it!) in the coaching department.James said:While writing that report, I was trying to think what were Wright's major achievements with India.
He didn't:
* win a test series overseas
* didn't win a major tournament (World Cup or Champions Trophy)
* failed to bring through any talented batsman into the mix (AFAIK).
I can't think of any
He led them on that tour of Australia in 03/04. He also helped to create a fair bit of cohesion in the squad.James said:While writing that report, I was trying to think what were Wright's major achievements with India.

Heh, look at Indian test record before him. Then you won't say that. We did win a test series in Pakistan, BTW. But not outside the subcontinent. Before him, we hadn't even won a test outside the subcontinent in like 15 years, let alone a series.James said:While writing that report, I was trying to think what were Wright's major achievements with India.

I am not sure about his record with India, but a few guys on this thread thought he did well.

NZ Test side - bit of a poisoned chalice. Still, the only way is up.Tim said:There is potential there for Bracewell to continue with the ODI side and for John Wright to pick up with the test side. There are alot of complications with this, but I wouldn't rule it out entirely.
Drew the Champions Trophy with SL, and made final of WC. Also won us a test series in Pakistan (overseas to India ).James said:While writing that report, I was trying to think what were Wright's major achievements with India.
