With Chappell winning the test series in the West Indies recently, do you consider that a bigger achievement than any of Wright's?
IMO, even with no Warne and McGrath, India's 1-1 draw in Aus > WI test series victory.

Yes Chappell did win us the test series, but with John Wright we had much more of a pleasant success in Pakistan (Overseas Victory) and also the WC final. We also made the champions trophy and shared it with SL.. More than anything we beat Australia in INDIA and also drew the series in Australia.. that is just tops imo

While writing that report, I was trying to think what were Wright's major achievements with India.

He didn't:

* win a test series overseas
* didn't win a major tournament (World Cup or Champions Trophy)
* failed to bring through any talented batsman into the mix (AFAIK).

I can't think of any
Err ??

1. VVS Laxman became Very Very Special under JW, Please compare Lax's performance during JW's tenure and before/after JW.
2. Virender Sehwag, the test batsman, was developed under JW
3. Rahul Dravid, became the wall under JW
4. India reached the Finals of the WC and were beaten by an alltime great ODI team
5. India won a series in Pakistan
6. Harbhajan Singh became the Bhajji under JW
7. Yuvraj Singh started his career under JW
8. India were a very good ODI team under JW.

Another thing - when he became the coach, Indian team was under the clouds of match fixing and IMO was at its worst in last 20 years.

That's quite an honour for Bhajji
