Bolo.

International Captain
Waqar was something of a one-trick pony. Admittedly was a great and ***y trick. But Bumrah has now almost reached the stage at which Waqar's career took the most dramatic downturn imaginable from a once nailed-on ATG. Might happen to Bumrah too, but in their respective meteoric early careers, I feel Bumrah's demonstrated the greater nous in terms of working ppl out as opposed to just blasting through them.
Mcgrath, Ambrose, and Steyn were also kinda trick ponies.

International Coach
So I remember the peak thread by Days of Grace asking about 5 years 40 innings min.

So Bumrah’s

14 Dec 2018-14 Dec 2024

69 innings 160 wickets @ 18.48

Fits in right with Steyn and McGrath’s peaks, around 14th all time.

The point at which he is right now i.e. 194 wickets, Bumrah actually has a better average than Waqar. 179 wickets at 27.93 is what Waqar has over Bumrah.

Bumrah has faced stronger opponents on an average too, hence went with him, though it is only a marginal decision.

About a year back, I went with Waqar. But couldn't have imagined such a massive year for Bumrah.
I don't think the batting line up these days is better than that of the 90s Waqar faced.

State Vice-Captain
Bumrah has faced slightly tougher batting line up than Peak Waqar. But look at their peak numbers ,40 innings ish even accounting for that. Peak Waqar was a beast anyone who saw him at his peak knows that.
Greatest bowler there has ever been and tbh The greatest I think there ever will be.

Interestingly I get a laugh reaction from an Indian poster when saying Peak Waqar was better than Bumrah.

McGrath and Ambrose?

Peak Waqar was more than just one trick pony. He was better than Bumrah easily. 1 Bowler to bowl for my life at their peak and I am going with Waqar everytime just as easily as I would pick Bradman in batting.
