You wouldn’t expect them to lose any, surely. Especially since the team averaged 41 batting. But their loss was huge. By an innings, no less.
That team is very arguably the greatest team ever and they lost a single match.

If I recall correctly, the spin one .

Barnes is greater than anyone bar McGrath/Marshall/Hadlee. Bumrah is not yet even clear of guys like Garner.

even in technicalities, Barnes constantly bowled bowls that would swing visibly in one direction and then cut to another the moment they pitch full

O Reilly + 10-20 kmph of pace + swing both ways? Modern batters would get cooked.
Barnes played in a era batting averages were low. His adjusted average, if I am nor mostaken is between 20-21. He is on par with Bumrah. But he has massive chunk of his wickets against ultra minnow south africa.

I wouldnot compare these two.

South Africa weren't minnows.

Australia was fine for batting, and he was an ATG there.

Speaking of ATG, and this doesn't mean I know where to rate him.

But Bumrah is one. It's a level of quality not quantity, and he's definitely quality.

He's something special.

Just like McGrath having just one 5-Fer in 17 matches in Asia doesn’t make him less great, not having a 10-Fer doesn’t make Bumrah any less great
