Across formats? McGrath and Hadlee were ATG in ODI.I know it is tough to compare across eras
Bumrah stands out as the undisputed best pacer since his debut so he it would be fine I guess.

Across formats? Right now it’s McGrath among pacers and Murali among spinners.Across formats? McGrath and Hadlee were ATG in ODI.
This will be part of the legacy as well. McGrath has the dead pitches during the second half of his career, Hadlee did it alone, Marshall had the all round record, the skill set and the intimidation not to add Maco and Pigeon took their teams to the heights of the greatest ever.Still, I feel like the former bowlers faced batters from a tougher era (Thanks to T20, things are gonna get worse only).
But yeah 350+ wickets @20 or less would be too good to underrate him.
I think test batting was generally fine till 2022 but it’s started to decline since and been awful in 2024. Bazball and T20 ruined cricket. We’re going to see bowlers put up better numbers as a result now.Still, I feel like the former bowlers faced batters from a tougher era (Thanks to T20, things are gonna get worse only).

Tbh, Bumrah is the only one who is putting up unreal numbers. Cummins' and Rabada's numbers are pretty normal by that standard, others are doing as good as the batters are doing.I think test batting was generally fine till 2022 but it’s started to decline since and been awful in 2024. I think it’s going to be significantly worse from now on tbh while those three played quite a bit before as well. Run rates have increased significantly this year.Tbh, Bumrah is the only one who is putting up unreal numbers. That stat excludes any matches Steyn played in UAE because they are neutral. Conveniently excludes one neutral match for Bumrah tooCrazy that Bumrah has played almost as many away tests as Steyn and Starc, and more than Cummins
Does the longevity discussion need to be revisited?
Has Played for 6 years. Let him play for 4/5 years and longevity isn't an issue.Crazy that Bumrah has played almost as many away tests as Steyn and Starc, and more than Cummins

I mean, India's first ATG played before Barnes.....
I doubt Bumrah would’ve had the funds to go to Cambridge and become a noted player like Ranji and Duleep.King Ranjitsinhji
Hopefully Bumrah plays the last match and goes past a lot of those mentioned.Fast bowlers who have taken more wickets than Bumrah in a calendar year at an average of less than 21

The Sydney match will begin in the next calendar year, so Bumrah will have just one more inning this match to increase his count. He might go past Pollock but not the rest.Hopefully Bumrah plays the last match and goes past a lot of those mentioned.
Oh sorry I forgot. The Sydney match will begin into the new year, so Bumrah will have just one more inning this match to increase his count. He might go past Pollock but not the rest.

SA? Yes. But they were not a great batting unit.Windies in 1984 11-1-3
SA in 1998 7-4-4
Pretty underwhelming for both tbh.
You wouldn’t expect them to lose any, surely. Especially since the team averaged 41 batting. But their loss was huge. By an innings, no less.SA? Yes. But they were not a great batting unit.
WI? Lost just one match.
