JAMTests - they are upon us

Yes but NZ are the exception as they only play about 8 tests a decade, so of course you remember them all.

While I'm pretty confident I could recall the results of test series that England have played in, the individual test matches have faded into a blur.
Excellent point. England tests are all JAM (play too many, none of them mean anything) and all NZ tests have Elite Significance (rare, important).

Which is? I don't have a CW dictionary handy
I dunno man I thought the point of the thread was pretty clear and was well-made. It's something that hasn't really happened before to this extent outside of WI, a team like South Africa sending a 2nd string side for a Test series. Coupled with the expanding T20 franchise calendar it feels like a significant turning point has been reached

Ok, fair enough. I hope that feeling isn't based on the SA series because that was an admin **** up, not a finger to Test cricket.

The first poster said it was a deliberate act to send a weakened side to NZ. It wasn't. He also said India are resting players, in a five match Test series. England does that. Australia has done that.

And I couldn't make much sense of his second point about historical context. Lara wasn't playing last week but it was 1-1 and his former team mates were teary eyed with joy

A Test series being second priority to the local SA T20 competition would be unthinkable a few years ago

the relative importance of Test cricket is clearly changing, for some at least

The SA series doesn’t count (mainly because KW made runs) but I can’t think of any other test series that shouldn’t. Maybe the WI vs Ban one way back during the Sammy days.
The 2020/21 Border Gavaskar series doesn't count either. Kohli went home after the 1st test and look at that team India picked for the match at the Gabba. No respect for test cricket!

This seems like a lot of it is built around the SA B/C/whatever team coming to NZ, and probably some misinformation about that.

Literally if the dolt(s) at CSA who did the fixtures got his calendar synched, this thread may not exist. This idiot(s) put them in an invidious position where they had players who are contractually obliged to play in the SAT20 but also were now torn between that and a clash with the NZ series. They asked us to move it, we couldn't. So then it's a) send your best players to NZ and break contracts that involve buy-in from sponsors, overseas players etc, in the process shitting on your major comp and losing money or b) biting the bullet and sending a B side to NZ, copping the expected heat but protecting your own back yard, financial position etc. They still toured, so didn't lose out on anything financially in regards to touring NZ.

As before mentioned dolts put their top players in a **** position, too, where they were contracted to play T20, would have wanted to tour NZ with the Test team and probably felt they copped undeserved heat for not being here.

Still feels like jumping at shadows to suggest there's some sort of JAM uprising.

the real uprising is in the lesser no of tests that some teams are playing these days more than anything ffs

England Tests have meaning as they normally form part of a minimum 3 match series. All NZ Tests should be binned from the record books for being pointless 2 Match rubbish. Can't even manage 3 Tests in the upcoming series against their local rivals!!

Now who do you think might have the final say in that?

Harder to get into any sort of rhythm playing tests rarely and in short series. All NZ player stats therefore understate the abilities of the players (especially Williamson, K)

Nah opposite. Batsmen get found out during longer series. Williamson would average about 35 if he played outside NZ a bit more and more than 2 Tests at a time.

Agree with the OP.

England are playing 17 tests this year, in a year that features an overseas world cup occurring in the middle of the English summer. That's 4x3 match series in the second half of the year. As part of that, they're off touring Pakistan and New Zealand at the end of the year, despite having played test series in both countries within the past two years. Utter JAMTestFest.
England 5 nations in 3+ test series this year being labelled meaningless :laugh:

While most countries play 2 match series. JAM cricketweb post more like
