Ian Chappell: India disgraced themselves by not competing | Cricinfo Magazine | ESPN Cricinfo
Chappell pinning it all on Dhoni.
Chappell pinning it all on Dhoni.
Yeah but the criticism around the Indian batting hasn't been that they didn't perform. It has been that they stopped giving a ****. You can't say that of Dhoni.Whilst Dhoni did better than expected with the bat lets not pretend he was fantastic. He averaged 34.90, which is ok and compared to the rest of the line up pretty good but its not like he was Dravid 2011 is it.
No one's saying it was. But by his standards overseas in swinging conditions, it was close to something miraculous.Whilst Dhoni did better than expected with the bat lets not pretend he was fantastic. He averaged 34.90, which is ok and compared to the rest of the line up pretty good but its not like he was Dravid 2011 is it.
True. His shot in the 2nd dig at Old Trafford was disgraceful though.Yeah but the criticism around the Indian batting hasn't been that they didn't perform. It has been that they stopped giving a ****. You can't say that of Dhoni.
Low bar? Sure. But whilst it is easy to pot Dhoni as he has been at the helm of the two poor England tours, the rest of the batsmen who did not dig in need to accept responsibility too.
His point about Dhoni affecting the slips was good analysis imoIt's Ian Chappell ffs. Don't expect any considered analysis coming out of that pen (let's face it, he ain't typing because back in his day everybody wrote by hand).
In the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king and all that.Whilst Dhoni did better than expected with the bat lets not pretend he was fantastic. He averaged 34.90, which is ok and compared to the rest of the line up pretty good but its not like he was Dravid 2011 is it.

And how did that end up for the one-eyed man in HG Wells' classic short story on the subject? In the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king and all that.
