Is Michael Clarke the best captain around?

Lets wait and see how Clarke gets on against a good side, after all he failed to beat New Zealand at home. Not exactly brilliant form that is it?

It's nothing to do with aggression to make a declaration like that. It's stupidity. The other captains aren't dumb enough to make such a ludicrous declaration that screws your own side.

Good to see you're still persisting with the 'experimental comedy' angle.

I'm not as big a wrap on Clarke's captaincy as several in this thread but this is a silly argument IMO. Unless you think Australia lost to New Zealand because of poor captaincy then it's not really relevant.

Using your criteria he then thrashed India. He's gone from hopeless to the best that's possibly ever lived in one series. He could be at the bottom again if he draws his next series against whoever isn't England though.

Well so far he has done well in SL poorly against NZ, brilliantly against India (who doesn't at home though) and is winning in WI. He is being hyped up yet his team may lose next week and draw the series against WI. Not exactly the record of a brilliant captain. The opposition played so far haven't been the strongest so as I say we wait to see what happens against a better side like Pakistan, SA or England. Be able to judge his side and his captaincy much easier after series against those sides.

One thing in his favour though he is more dynamic than Poontang ever was. Not difficult though.

For the record, Strauss is an ordinary captain. Got a decent side and anyone could captain the side the run they were on, he fell way short this winter. Wouldn't replace him though as I am not convinced Cook is any better.
