well then, enter comps, just keep playing, if you are good enough then you will be found, its as simple as that, cricket scouts are everywhere, if you play well you will be watched and discovered, and then if you continue to impress it will just follow on from there....

cricket player go to new york and let coach rampersad analyse your talent then you will kno wat ur chances are.

hmm well i had my first chance at taking a step further to international cricket this year in the form of the zonal competition where the best of the best in an area is picked to play against the other zones and then the national team is picked.went up for the U-17 team as i am 15, was told that i have alot of time as i am still young and have the talent.didnt go to the last week of training bcuz of exams.met the head coach last week and got a "cussing" because i was supposed to be in the team and how i need to show more dedication.so gettung on ur way requires hard work and dedication oh and a little disobediance.
oh and by the way i started playing at 14.

so cricketplayer u just keep on playing and practicing hard and ull do well and if i dont do to wel here u just might see me come to the us and play for u guys.

Not all theories have exceptions. What about the theory that everyone will die at some point? There will not be any "examples which fly in the face of it." And I could think of many other theories on top of that.
Isn't the statement "All people are going to die" a fact rather than a theory?

Hey speedking, I've played against Gidea park and Romford a few years ago, some of their players are amazingly talented. I was asked to have trials with them a few years back, but nothing really materialised. I regularly hear their youth teams racking up 200-300 in 20 overs. I think the fundamental thing the coaches drill into their batsmen is pick the line and length early and trust ur instints! Seems too work very well for them.

Good luck to you mate, hope you destroy them, never been too much of a fan of the club, too ****y for my liking.
We have a match againt them next Sartuday the 21st. i am having the time of the season so far. i destroyed this team called Loughton and earned myself a mention in the dagenham Post newspaper. My coach told me that they are not as strong as they were last year, so i hopefully wont get tonked again. i think they still have essex's U-18 keeper/batsman playing for them so it would be a good way to get myself recognition by getting him out. Fingers crossed

I play for Hornchurch, you heard of them? Don't play so much anymore due to university and work commitments, only played a couple of games last season. Hopefully play alot more this season.

I think what your coach has told you is true, they aren't as strong as before, good luck to you mate. Do you know the name of the keeper/batsman? I seem to remember a guy called Buxton playing for Essex as a keeper at that level, not sure though.

If you move to any test playing natio, such as the UK, I think you will be in for a huge shock as to the standard people play their cricket. And I'm talking about tens of thousands of people day in day out.. You clearly have a lot to learn if you think you can just make it through self belief.. But I failed to take you seriously the moment you have got here, so no worries..

The competition is vast, I'd like to get you in a net against our college 1st XI, and we are, ooh four/five/six steps below international cricket? It's a savage garden..
Do you believe that? Truly? Madly? Deeply?

Deeps what competition did u score that 549*???? i have yet to here of a a official junior competion that has a 5 day competion for U10's, U11's, U12's-U17s. And from my experience of U10's,U11's and U12's you only had a minimal amount of overs that you were able to bat before you were forced to retire to give the other blokes in the team a go. Although not completly ignoring your statement i find it highly unlikely that u scored that many runs. What district team do u currently play for? and what grade? have u also represented the stae and or Australia because surely someone with that amount of talent at the age of nine would be on the brink of braking into a state 11 be it a junior state 11

Most players that reach international level for one of the major countries are amazingly gifted.
Yes and no. Being gifted is only part of the equation. You have to be able to knuckle down and show hard work and progression.

The world is full of freakishly talented players who never made it.

Most FC and test players will not have been that much more special than their contemporaries (obviously good players) growing up.

The development and improvement happens once the player has been identified and has 100% focus on cricket. What is important is that a coach or a selector sees something they like.

I have seen a number of guys go onto be successful that didnt appear head and shoulders above the rest and others who were out of this world not get close.

Also, saying score lots of runs and take lots of wickets is overly simple. Players are seldom picked on production but on potential and what they can become. Doing well will obviously get you noticed but unless you project a "high glass ceiling" you will go no where.

Final point, The cricket in the US is not as weak as made out by some in this thread and there are many players who would be surprized if it was compared to the level of their club.

I can imagine it would be ridiculously ridiculous to play international cricket. I have a leggie/big-hitter in my club who turned the ball a mile and was solid with the bat. Then there's another who comes off a spinner's run-up and bowls in the mid-70s at least, with 4 slips; with the bat, he has Afridiesque power but the scary part is he's a compact batsman who will just blast a few out of the ground when he feels like it ... this guy apparently represented Canada. Then these guys say there are tons in our SF Bay Area league who are better ... amazing batsmen, guys who clock 80+, some ex-pat grade cricketers (ran into some fresh aussie guy when i was playing with friends a few years ago and damn was he good). All that and this is still far below the international level.

I'm pretty young so I've only recently started playing in BACA (besides NCCA, the other big cricket league here). I'm not sure about the names of the 80 mph guys, but I'm certain there are a few because I've seen plenty in the 70s who aren't that highly reputed and I've heard quite a few speaking of these 80 mph guys, so I doubt it's rubbish. Then that Canada guy, I just found him on cricinfo and realized he wasn't joking when he put on that official Canada cap in our match this weekend .. my closest claim to fame, playing with an international (albeit superminnow) cricketer.:)
