There is no contradiction. Botham is certainly a viable candidate for an all-time XI though he is likely not going to get selected.

Viable to me means worthy of consideration. So I would have to argue my case why Imran and Miller and not Botham make it as all-rounders. I don't need to do that with Chris Cairns.

And yes, there is subjectivity in this equation, of course.
