Don't think Walcott or Botham would merit real consideration either. Neither would guys like Border or Waugh even for a second XI. It's not the best measure.

This is why I have always maintained that comparisons between pre and post covered wickets are not comparable. I have been absolutely consistent with this.
I disagree. I think Mikey is one of the top 3 quicks WI have produced and a very good candidate for consideration.

There are more than 10 pacers ahead of him in cricket history. So, he is nowhere close to atg second eleven.
Don't just look at stats, although his are excellent. I can think of about 7/8 arguably better quicks. But he is right up there.

Are better (and that’s without including anyone really old timey) - and then you start splitting hairs. He’s not in contention for a 2nd XI, ergo not an ATG by your very own measure.

Despite my strong convictions, let us sideline Holding for now and move on to Australians that are realistic candidates for ATG XI 1 or 2 selection.

Alternative definition:
Batsman averaging over 50 with minimum 20 tests.
Bowlers averaging under 25 with the same caveat, or perhaps 100 wickets minimum. Some extra allowance wrt average for spinners as has always been the case.
This would expand the pool but I am content with my strictest definition. Off to work!

He is an ATG. He also wouldn't really be part of any short list for the first two XIs.
