Well coming back to Ajit Agarkar and Zaheer Khan, (im going to be killed for saying this)
These were Ajit's stats in the NatWest Trophy played in England
6 wickets for 162 runs at an average of 27
Not to bad, for the amount of stick hes been getting by the English Fans
These were Zaheers Stats in the NatWest Trophy played in England
14 wickets for 330 runs at an average of 23, now thats pretty damn good. Infact Zaheer was the leading wicket taker in the NatWest Trophy against England and Sri Lanka
And Ajit Agarkar's unfortunate slide continues. When he burst onto the scene as a 19 year old bowler, he impressed me a lot and he was damn good and damn quick.
So this is Ajits unfortunate career slide:
1997/98 - 58 wickets at average of 18.22
1998 - 15 wickets at average of 34.75
1998/99 - 24 wickets at 30
1999 - 3 wickets at 54
1999/00 - 16 wickets at 48
2000/01 - 25 wickets at 30
2001 - 4 wickets at 20
2001/02 - 32 wickets at 24.28
2002 - 6 wickets at 27
2002/03 - 3 wickets at 75
not bad figures by Agarkar over the years. He impressed me way back in 1998 as one of the best new bowlers around, unfortunately injuries and loss of form have really hampered him.
Although he has always been up around 5.0 Economy Rate.
Hopes this sheds light on the Cult of Ajit Bhalchandra Agarkar
