Indian Domestic Season 2011/2012

While cricket talk was overshadowed by some sad news, Delhi coach Manoj Prabhakar was sacked. This, because he complained publicly about the selectors (he was not consulted about team selection matters), and players (Dhawan does not show sincerity at practice or value for his wicket, while Unmukt Chand seems to think he's playing baseball). He had a target of three Ranji finals in five years, which couldn't happen as they failed to make it three years in a row after their 2007-08 victory. That squad has looked thin, and with more players on national duty, they haven't been able to replace them adequately.

Rohit just completed his ton against Railways
Yes. Good to see the usual suspects doing well in their respective matches. I hope that they create some stiff competition for the No 6 position.
Rohit is good for the longer version of the game too. He's had a really good domestic record, and is a few away from 50 FC matches. That IPL wonder tag is unfortunate, when it should have been an advantage. To his credit, higher-rated batsmen than him in the domestic scene have struggled in the IPL, against top international bowlers. Why six, he should set three, four or five as a target. He has the goods for the position.

Manoj Tiwary scores another ton. Surely he should be a Test reserve now? His fielding should make him seriously useful, at least as a substitute for a Playing XI player, in case a sub is needed, and surely a far better choice than a dust-gathering second wicketkeeper.

Mandeep Singh- surely a player to follow. Only eight games old, but in five years, should be in contention for a place in the national (or at least reserves) team. He's also good in T20, but like any self-respecting cricketer, should value the Navy Blue more than the branded uniforms.

Nothing of note from any bowler. The best is RP Singh's 4/60. Sreesanth took one for 51 but went over the line too often.

Maybe because he complained too much about Andrew Hilditch and team, and also about David Warner and Simon Katich?

He was coaching Orissa for a while, took them overseas as well. Dunno why he got sacked though.

Anybody see mandeep Singh play before? He's Unbeaten on 150 with an overall average of 70 with 3 centuries after 8 matches at the age of 19. Yuvi might not even be the batsman from Punjab.

Yes, eventually he would once the incumbents leave. I was talking about the current position in the test team specific to the Australia series.

The Orissa Cricket Association administrators claimed that Bevan had to go for a pressing personal problem back at home, sources in the cricket circle here said he was shown the door following the dismal performance of the Orissa team in recently concluded East Zone leg of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 meet at Jamshedpur.

Orissa failed to qualify for the all-India T20 knock out stage. This happened just two days after Orissa was thrashed by Bengal to be knocked out from the knock-out stage.

Yeah, have mentioned him many times already on here in different threads.:p

Him and Unmukt Chand are 2 talents that are really coming up in terms of under 20 batsman in the country right now. Singh's technique needs a bit of tightening, but looks a pretty good prospect, IMO.

NO. His technique is pretty dodgy and he doesn't have a great attitude either. Has to prove himself in anything beyond Domestic cricket in India first tbh. Many other options ahead of him atm.

Jadeja gets a triple century. Wowee.

Believe it or not, I have been supporting Jadeja a lot during his tough times in India colours when all my friends here were scolding him. I hope he comes good and prove that he belongs.

Oops...thought that question was a joke.

Somehow, no overseas player or official was as famous as Intikhab Alam, who coached Punjab to the drawn Ranji final of the 2004-05 season, which Railways led in the first innings to 'win' the trophy. Not surprisingly, Alam was not amused, and said the trophy should have been shared.

He's got an average over 57, more centuries than fifties, and is barely touched by the vices of the IPL, sticking to the grind of Ranji and Duleep Trophy. While I wouldn't put him in the XI, he should surely shoot in ahead of those bonus wicketkeepers, none of whom are even half the batsman he is. His fielding is also a huge plus, and even though he can't make the XI, he can still be useful as a sub. Besides, a whole lot of new internationals seem to go the distance despite suspect technique, which is a very common malady in Indian domestic players. Pujara and Rahane included.
