Indian domestic season 2006-07

Pratters

Cricket, Lovely Cricket
Haha. Wasn't in town back then as well. Would have been the perfect time to meet some players as I said.. ;)

Who will miss out because of being selected for the Indian team and all in the end of the piece did confuse me a bit while reading it but even then I didn't realise the folly.. :D

Ganguly a wicket taking option!!!!!!!.Never heard that one before. Now he's what you call a genuine medium pacer.

I don't blame you. He doesn't look very threatening but he's been taking wickets and he does have good control and subtle lateral movement.

Ashok Dinda bowled his first over, a maiden. He was interesting to watch. If you thought Sreesanth's action was exaggerated, he takes it even further. His arms and legs swing around a lot more, but worse, he comes in diagonally. He fielded well of his own bowling in one delivery, and the other piece of fielding has also been good.

Now Ranadeb is bowling. It seems he hasn't done too well with a change of ends. He's bowling only in the 120's so far. The commentators are complaining that there's no inswing bowler bowling to Tendulkar.

Ranadeb Bose has been rather disappointing. He gets lateral movement and has decent control but the pace is really down, usually in the low 120s. National prospect? Nope.

Clearly shows how difficult it is to find a fast bowler in India. Change seamer Dinda was the fastest so far, with 135k being the highest. He was unlucky as Jaffer was dropped off him by Manoj Tiwari. As for Bose, he's another swing bowler, leading the wickets tally. He was doing well from the Garware Pavilion end, but once he was shifted to the Tata end, he struggled.

And what's it with this "Barso re megha megha" (don't know the name of the song) thing coming so often? It's one of the worst ads here, second only to NEO's own ads for the SL series!

Then there's Amol Mazumdar. He's blown a good lead by Tendulkar by scratching around, playing-and-missing, blocking and edging. He's scored 25 in 87 balls. It's time he starts scoring quicker, while Jaffer holds that end up.

ADD-ON: Lahiri is bowling very flat, getting no turn and the batsmen are easily sweeping him around. Wonder what the commentators mean by "doesn't reflect his performance" when he took one wicket and was going at four runs an over. Just a few minutes ago, Dinda bowled one at 134 which was edged by Jaffer through an empty slip cordon for four.

About those comments on Ganguly's bowling, I'd say it's a good thing he's putting in so many overs. If the Indians are stuck with him, he'll add more value to his place in the team. He can even open the Test innings regularly or play as an out-and-out pinch-hitter in the ODI's till the end of the World Cup. That said, his bowling is very weak and his fielding weakens the whole team, so there's work to be done.

Even as I type, Dinda bowls one straight and gets Mazumdar out leg-before. Finally, some respite. EDIT: No respite. It was Ganguly who got that wicket. Interestingly, he's bowled as many overs (almost 15) as all the other bowlers, bar Bose, who turned in 22.

Then, Abhishek Nair steps in and hooks one short delivery, and with nobody catching, he got a boundary.
