I have been one who has always under-rated Jadeja. I agree he has done really really well this series and is easily #1 spinner choice for India. Although I still shudder at the prospect that he will have a horrid horrid game. I don't quite know how he has had all that success with the ball. I mean Harbhajan clearly had more tricks as a finger spinner than Jadeja, but former averages 32.xx in tests while latter averages 24.xx. I don't get him.

Also it is true that even when Jadeja is doing so well, it's always Kuldeep or Chahal who bowl in last 5 overs of t20 or last 10 overs of ODI. Kohli still wouldn't trust Jadeja to bowl at death.

imo our spinners shouldn't be bowling at the death unless the pitch is quite spin friendly. Our key pace bowlers and back-ups Bumrah, Shami and Saini all have deadly yorkers and generally bowl well at the death. Bhuvi has improved on his death bowling as well. Among front-liners, it is only Chahar's death bowling which is a worry.

At this point, I trust Jadeja more than Chahal and Kuldeep in the death overs. He is the best LO spinner for India right now.

Jadeja as the package is always more valuable than any of the pure spinners we have in the different formats. I still think Chahal is the better T20 spinner and Ash is a better test match spinner by quite a lot. Jury still out on who our best ODI spinner is though. I honestly think both Kuldeep and Ash will still be better as just bowlers than Jaddu in ODIs. But Jaddu is the ultimate 3D player.

Pant will be fuming inside on Rahul even though he might not show it outside for usurping his wicket keeper position. Rahul has done Pant a Vijay on Karthik.

India do have a good set of issues to address in T20s (it is just that some of the other teams have a few more than us). Would like to see all of these looked into.

1) Not fully convinced by late innings hitting.
2) Need a wicket taking spinner. Play Kuldeep more. He should have never been out of the XI this long.
3) Need a good 3rd seamer. Thakur shouldn't be the one we should be investing.
4) No "no rounders" please. Play a specialist if you can't find a decent all rounder (depends on when Pandya comes back).

His upper body weight will mean its too much pressure on his lower back as well as legs. Its the reason why a lot of our bowlers stop bowling over a period. Virat is the only one who can bowl but unfortunately he is absolutely **** at it.

he injured his shoulder many years ago and has given up bowling since then

Eh, 6 overs across two Tests barely counts. Last time he bowled before that was in 2016.

In ODIs he hasn't bowled since 2016 either, and that was just 1 over vs Australia at Perth (why?)

I think if he can do 2 or 3 in an ODI, that will do just fine for us. I do get your point but I just meant he can bowl a few when pushed.

Fully agree with #3 and #4.
On #2, I find it hard to fathom but Jadeja has proven to be better at wicket taking since that England game in world cup that split apart KulCha. I will just want to test once if KulCha in combination again shine more than they do individually. But if that doesn't turn out to be true, Jadeja should get his rightful place as lead spinner.

Wouldn't mind KulCha getting a go again but would love a combination of Pandya+Jadeja+Kuldeep+3 seamers.

1 bowler too many. Not a fan of playing 6 bowlers. 6th bowling option should be a proper batsman who rolls his arm. See how playing Dube as 6th bowling option turns out for us. There is no real confidence in his bowling and he keeps a specialist bat out.

The issue is none of the top order batsmen bowl, the role played by Sehwag, Yuvraj or Raina in T20s.`

The other option is to play both Pandey and Pant and have Pandya handle the role of 3rd seamer.

No need for Pant, Iyer's been doing a better job imo.

I think both the options are fine, but against a stronger bowling attack I might be more comfortable with Pandya as the 5th bowler instead of 6th.

Iyer is anyways a lock at no.4. The question is which lineup is better.
