Shashwat Rawat is doing quite well in the domestic scene and he is just 23.

Today for India A he's 122* with his team at 224/7

His recent scores are below and there's almost a hundred every game!

I reckon Rahul needs to be axed pretty soon and guys like him and Sarfraz need to be given opportunities for India asap

I think , this is his personal choice . But selectors should consider moving on from him if he doesn’t score runs . How is he going to practice playing spinners in London ? ( Assume the news isn’t fake ) 95318BAE-B726-44D1-997D-24AF75D06096.jpeg

Its not ideal for him to keep having to take 9 hr flights back and forth as well as having to adjust to the time differences, not to mention the contrasting weather.

Whatever it takes!!!
as someone who travels often for work, I think its his personal situation. Selectors should only consider dropping him if his performance is not good and they think the replacement can do better. And we are nowhere near that situation now and hopefully we never will be, till he himself retires. I think its pretty dumb to start discussing their personal decisions and lives in this manner. There is more to everyone's life than just cricket, including us and them.

He went to London on the 2nd Oct and the team will probably assemble around the 12th of Oct so he gets 9-10 days with his family. Fair enough gap.

Looking ahead, the last test of the IND NZ series falls on Diwali 1st Nov till 5th Nov. With team India leaving for Aus around the 12th of Nov, I'm wondering if he will skip the 3rd NZ Test, so that he gets a good 2 weeks of Diwali break with his family in London, before having to fly to Aus?

Alternatively, if he does play the 3rd test, he may decide to join the India squad a few days late directly in Australia, as the gap is only like 6 days between end of NZ series and team leaving for Aus.

He can go wherever he wants in his free time as long as he’s back for the prep camp/sessions. I don’t see any issue with it, though obviously in an ideal world for us fans he’d be training for the conditions every day even on break (which would mean staying in India).

What was regretful was allowing him to skip the Duleep trophy.

Yeah , I have no problem what he does in his free time but I believe his batting against spin has clearly deteriorated which would only improve if he practices against spin bowlers on domestic pitches .
Rest it is upto selectors and BCCI .
