He's fairly good IMO, at least battingwise. And his mediums can be fairly decent too. Labu OTOH is downright trash bowler in T20 - you'd know if you'd watched his recent bowling in BBL (I did for the most part, and tbf most of the, ahem, "spinners" bowled trash and got wickets, pretty much became a meme), but batting is pretty good, only if you don't have a consolidator sorta role in your team. I see Pujara's in for CSK (besides Faf, MSD etc), so they're set there, they really. No need for them to go for Marnus IMO.
I presumed Pujara was a cheap buy as backup - if they need to rotate due to loss of form or injuries they have an experienced player to fall back on. I hadn't seen the BBL to be fair just knew he could bowl a bit of a legspin and got wickets there - still think at base price he was a better value buy then many of the other options out there even when considering supply/demand.

I dunno what to make of the Pujara thing.

If he wants to play and 100% of Indian cricketers want to play the IPL then cool, but he'd be of more benefit to India playing county cricket.

Its not like he has a chance of ever playing limited overs cricket for India long term.

Maxwell highlights get millions of views tho, plus I bet he sells a lot of merch $$$

RCB deciding to give Jamieson a taste of that T20 ka-ching to help derail his budding test career, especially ahead of the WTC final. In retaliation, Fleming ensures Che Pu will be preparing by warning the bench for CSK instead of playing county cricket. 5D chess in action.

CSK missing Dawid Malan (at the price 1.5Cr) is really idiotic..
They need an explosive opener (left handed) to complement Rutu and they need a good start. Not this crappy 25/1 by end of 1st power play.
You need spinners agreed, but spending all the money on spinners (even though you already have many) and not getting any explosive batsmen to get some runs is beyond stupidity.. They didnt even play tahir last season, didnt try Sai Kishore. why the **** you need more spinners?? How is this guy Gowtham going to win any matches? he is neither a great spinner nor a big hitter, they just found a new Kedar Jadav ffs..
MSD has really regressed in his later years in thinking and strtegy and this selection looks brain dead to me..
I think the losses will be even more humiliating this year ?‍♂ bottom of the table for sure..

hahaha.. I think if there are no injuries and no Bhajji/Raina situation this year, we will be one of the strongest and best sides. But I am glad the other narrative of not picking TN players at least is gone. :p

It will be interesting to see which sides have a very clear top 4 OS players and which sides do not -

Think RR is clear - Stokes, Buttler, Morris and Archer. How and where they use them is up for question but it is clear the other overseas players on that bench may not see much game time.

MI is usually a safe bet too - NCN, Pollard, QdK and Boult.

The 3 south Indian teams will have 5-6 of their overseas contingent always in the conversation for their best XIs.

DC - If they insist on keeping the Rabada, Nortje pairing, then it is straight forward. KG, Nortje, Hetmeyer and Stoinis.

Punjab Kings is a hard one - I feel they will be in the same boat as the southern sides, mainly because of Gayle.

KKR will be simple but Shakib wont be available for a major part of the tournament. So that leaves them having to figure out the jigsaw a bit more.

Not just a narrative. It is a fact.
In recent years MSD is NOT giving any chances to local talent, when it is readily available.
Varun/nattu were there as net bowlers for long in CSK and they were never even considered for anything more..
Ironically MSD was bowled by both in last season.. Well karma is a bitch :)
He is doing the same thing for Sai kishore, ruining his career warming bench..
Washy got a chance in Indian team because he went else where..
Shah rukh khan is a good hitter down the order and CSK didnt even try for him in auction..
What is puzzling me is the TNPL is Srinivasan's franchise and they are well aware of who is performing and promising there..
Yet no one one from there makes it to CSK ever.. who could be blocking them? It's either MSD or Fleming.
It's ok if CSK is winning tournaments like before, but now the side is literally struggling to make even playoffs..
How can they now afford to completely ignore talent now, is unimaginable..

Hope we start the new season with following XI

Padikkal
Azharudden (wk)
Kohli
de Villiers
Maxwell
Christian**
Jamieson
Sundar
Saini
Chahal
Siraj

** Not a big fan of the Christian buy at that price although happy he's finally got an IPL franchise after good form in last couple years - not too many other options in terms of middle order bats though so think this will be our lineup barring injuries or an awful start to IPL 2021.
