India Pakistan in practical reality has sucked balls.

the only good series of my lifetime was that 2004 tour of Pak by India.

and that one test when Irfan got a hat trick and Akmal of all people saved Pakistan

the last good ODI was 2003. Everything else has been a blowout or poor cricket

The 99 test series was an awesome tour. Great cricketers and high level of cricket.

Chennai test classic, Saqlain just being amazing every innings, Afridi unexpected hundred, Tendulkar tragedy ATG knock, Wasims reverse, Kumble taking 10 in an innings, Shoaibs thunder yorkers, Anwar carrying his bat, Srinaths 13 wickets.

The 2022 T20 WC match is probably one of the best T20s I have ever seen

true - I was off studying in the US then at a time when it was not easy to follow the cricket other than cricinfo scorecards so I didn’t see that series but it feels like it was amazing

2005 in India was also a pretty decent tour. And of course the 2004 Pakistan tour. But 2006 and 2007 tours were disappointments.

Most tours the wickets prepared tend to be too defensive for competitive series.

Nah - Aus and Windies are a cut above, Ind, Pak and RSA next tier, Eng SL and NZ next tier
Not sure I would agree that South Africa is in the next tier.

Barry Richards
Graeme Smith
Hashim Amla
Jacques Kallis
A.B. de Villiers
Daryll Cullinan / Brian McMillan
Quinton de Kock
Shaun Pollock
Dale Steyn
Kagiso Rabada
Allan Donald

Definitely 3rd, might be closer to the top 2 than the other guys?

Barry Richards makes post 70’s but Pollock and Procter don’t. Love it.

I actually think 4 pacers is overkill.

Australia with McGrath, Lillee and Cummins have more than enough firepower and Warne is a much more complete attack since he will make 4th and 5th days really difficult for WI, tho admittedly they have great players of spin. It's not like they have relative weak links like Brett Lee to leak runs.
And whom of the WI pacers would be leaking runs? And not like Ambrose, hell all of them wouldn't be a handful on a deteriorating 5th day pitch with inconsistent bounce.
The psychological battle of just knowing it's relentless pace, with Holding being possibly the most hittable, but knowing he hits back?

Would be a very competitive series, but again, don't see Warne running through the lineup either

I'm lost, Pollock debuted in '63 and Procter I think in '67. Barry in 70, within the restrictions.

What's the problem?

You really do pick at the weirdest **** sometimes.
I assumed you were just taking their careers, rather than test debut, mb. Don’t blow a fuse.

Though imo Nandre Burger should make the side.

I mentioned, I don't see merits of the worldclass 4th bowler being the difference between the two sides if you have three ATG pacers already. But Warne can be the difference on a spinning wicket if there are series in which at least one is expected.

good but not as good

Windies is a similar team but better at virtually every level other than opener

I think you can add Kirsten at no.3 and remove Cullinan.
