India will not travel to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy

ICC and therefore the cricket boards would suffer huge drop in revenue. And ICC would find itself in legal battles with the broadcasters as well. They sold the rights for India games including Ind pak game.

Just play one tournament without India ffs!!! Pretend we didn't qualify or some ****. As an Indian, I really don't think India team not traveling to Pakistan is unjust on our part, but I also don't think Pakistan shan't host it/move the Final to UAE. It ain't the World Cup, just play without us.

Thats not thinking about bigger picture bro, India are hosting 2026 T20 WC , 2029 Champions trophy and 2031 ODI WC , if Pakistan adopt the same measure in response to India missing Champions Trophy next year there is nothing ICC will be able to do if they allow India to skip the CT.

That will effect broadcast deals , sponsorships, TV figures and will have a domino effect on every team when the funding for future tour programmes is released.

I can understand that, but really, in good conscience as an Indian citizen, I don't know if I can ask the government to think again. I can just say, "Pakistan can also boycott those", but I know it's not logically possible. Is it like the BCCI is bullying a weaker a Board? Kind of it is. But really, the relationship is too fragile atm to realistically expect India to travel there.

2026 T20 WC is in both India and Sri Lanka, so Pakistan will just play in SL.

2031 ODI WC is in both India and Bangladesh so Pakistan will just play in Bangladesh.

Only the 2029 CT would be in jeopardy as India is the only host atm. So whatever happens in this tournament will set the way for the next CT as well. If it's hybrid now, it will be hybrid then too with Pakistan playing its games in Dubai.

Most probably Pakistan won't make the final, so final would remain in India.

Why can't we just compromise and accept a hybrid model so that both teams can play.

Finals in any case won't be moved out of India, just like 2011 ODI WC when the semi final was in Mohali and Pakistan travelled to India for the game. Pakistan had played all their games outside India until then.

The problem with the hybrid model is the possibility of India making the Final. Moving the Final outside of Pakistan is kinda cruel and PCB will never comply.

Would be nice if the other countries came out in support of Pakistan. If the tournament's not played there then they all pull out. You cannot have one country controlling the rules of an International competition, did we learn nothing from the T20 fiasco?

Yeah I am sick of group stage or prefixed ind pak games. There should be no guaranteed matches between the two. Let it happen randomly by chance if both teams make it to late stages.

Basically there's precedent of Pakistan travelling to India for a one-off semi final in 2011 or even the whole world cup in 2016 and 2023 and there were no security issues, while there's no such precedent of India travelling to Pakistan. India has not visited Pakistan since 2006. Thats why finals will happen in India regardless.
