India Vs England - What a Pathetic Performance by Dhoni

Does the Dhoni/Jadav batting yesterday remind anyone of that Mongia/Prabhakar saga? Somewhere in the mid 90's, and the match was played in India for sure...can't remember the opposition...was it the West Indies? Any other detail about that match if any of you remember...
Haha yeah I remember this. But Mongia and Prabhakar gave up like halfway through the innings instead of just in the final 5 overs. Very dodgy stuff.

Edit: actually on checking, it was a pretty similar situation. They needed 63 from 7 overs when they started doing a dhoni

Reminds me of that Misbah innings in the WC semi-final chase. Just seemed oblivious to the asking rate.

India showing reluctance to win the match againsh England

India was chasing 338 and required 71 runs from the last five overs. In the final 30 crucial balls, the duo managed to score 20 singles, three fours and a six with MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav's partnership.
What on earth one can believe ???
"I don't have an explanation for that. You asked me the question but I can't explain these singles. It's also the length and the bounce that has deceived the Indian batsmen. You can't be chasing 338 and still have 5 wickets in the end,” said Ganguly.
"I am completely baffled. What’s going on! This is not what India needed. They need runs. What are they doing? Some Indian fans are leaving now. Surely they must want to see Dhoni go for his shots, even if he slogs it off in the air. It's a World Cup game, top 2 sides, give it a go,” Hussain said.

Apparently he was just working the ball around and not really going for the big shots in the last few overs when the game was there for the taking. Seems to me that it's not just him and Jadhav (12 off 13) at the end, even Rohit and Kohli were slower than they'd usually be. I genuinely don't know if they were going for the win.
Rohit was just going at his normal pace (60-70), which in itself is an issue (ended up with a high strike rate because of some late hitting). Rohit was REALLY struggling for much of the innings.
Kohli was doing fine (80-90) before trying to push harder and that's where he got out.

It was key that NEITHER got out, and certainly not both, but you can't have one player playing 80-90 and the other doing 60-70 in a 338 run chase after being 27/1 after first 10 overs. If both were at 80-90, then it takes the pressure off Kohli quite a fair bit.

As a Pakistani fan, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Don't want to believe that a professional international side would willfully do something like this.

Lol....Maybe if Pakistan improved their performance for once and didn't humiliate themselves against India, they would not have to worry about all this. Also, why wouldn't India not want to beat England and eliminate them from the WC? England are still a legitimate threat. If i were India, I would want a weak team like Pakistan to qualify so that they can thrash them again. Either way, here's to hoping that Aus get NZ or Pak in the semis and go on to beat them again....India vs Aus would be a good finals, where Aus get their revenge for the earlier loss much like the last WC vs NZ.

There's no doubt India tanked it deliberately and should, imo be turfed from the competition for doing so, because the sport can't afford that sort of crap, whatever the motive. The idea of Kohli saying "Lol, I dunno, ask the blokes who were batting" is piss poor and not good enough.

1 year ban for weak captaincy. We have a precedent
