Why is Akram overrated? Outside here Akram is pretty much overrated especially youtube comments rate him as the greatest bowler to breathe! In ODI upto an extent this won’t be an exaggeration but in Tests! Is it because the amount of swing he generated? Akram WPM is barely 4
During his peak he had output up there with any ATG bowler plus his level of talent and the overwhelming number of peers who rate Wasim the best means he gets rated quite high.

Which is what is different and unique about him.

It's a lot of peer reviews based on how difficult he was to play.
And yet the numbers don’t bear it out.

For example I’m pretty sure Lara has said he was the most difficult.

7 matches against Wasim and he only was dismissed by him twice.

Compared to 3 in 6 for Waqar, 15 in 24 for McGrath, 6 in 10 for Donald

I don't disagree with you.

Was no doubt McGrath gave him the most trouble. Though he got his back a few times as well.

Being difficult to face may not be the same as raw effectiveness. But it deserves credit in itself.

“I found him difficult to face but he could almost never get me out” “I found him relatively easier to face but he always got me out”

I prefer option 2

The peers that rate Wasim highly only talk about his skills.. skills don't automatically translate into results.
This is pretty much all peer ratings. Pretty much nobody is rating the most effective players, and are effectively answering a different question to us.

Not bad since the other three are Top 6-7 of all time

True

Like Fed is perhaps the most skilled and most pleasing to watch but ended up as the third best of his era.

Did he though?

His era can be argued to have started a bit before the other two.

But beyond that I still rate Fed over Rafa considering how many of Nadal's slams came on clay.
