Oh man, that's a crushing loss for the Aussies. They should have won that, but Bradman ended up having his worst match all tournament.

Well, at the start I thought they might well lose most of them... but of the "tough run in" they lost to West Indies before beating NSW and England.

Big names who averaged under 40 include Hutton (39 - he had a terrible run towards the end), Hanif Mohammad (39), Merchant (38), Morris (36), Harvey (36), May (36), Headley (32), Dempster (32), Hammond (27), Ponsford (25). And I don't know what the sim has against Paul Gibb (55 runs at an average of 3.06).

Interesting that Grimmett, O'Reilly and Laker all took plenty of wickets but averaged 30+.

There weren't many starring all-rounders - the only players with batting average > bowling average (with 10+ wickets) were Frank Woolley, Lala Amarnath, Vallance Jupp, Keith Miller, Jack Gregory, Colin McCool and Wilfred Rhodes.

For what it's worth, I think WI and SA have higher quotients than Lancs and Yorks anyway.
