There's realism and there's being ****. This falls well into the latter category.
Yep, agreed. There's enough natural retirement as there is.Neil Pickup said:There's realism and there's being ****. This falls well into the latter category.
That's because they've been here the longest and had gotten used to the idea of not retiring.Kweek said:its quiet funny to see all the CW XI players are against retiring ideas, and the non CWXI ers are mostly pro it....
interesting
But one big problem with it is that those who signed up early are being aged for barely any games in comparison to the current program.Loony BoB said:What Neil is suggesting is that our players are immortal, and this in my opinion is a bad thing for the game, not a good thing.
I'm guessing the first premiership football season, in whatever it's original format was back when the FA first began, was not as long as it is these days either.marc71178 said:But one big problem with it is that those who signed up early are being aged for barely any games in comparison to the current program.
Hmm.. you may have a point there. Maybe it isn't such a bad ideaLoony BoB said:Like I said, I'm not all about retirement but I do think that aging should come into play, because no player is immortal. I mean, if we're going to have non-CWLand teams such as Windies, Australia and England all going through players over the years, why not have the same for ourselves? What Neil is suggesting is that our players are immortal, and this in my opinion is a bad thing for the game, not a good thing.
Which isn't a massive surprise. Because we've all been around for a while and now all of a sudden we're told by Towns (A newer player believe it or not ) that because we've been around for that long and we've stayed commited that we should be punished so that he can have our place in the team.Kweek said:its quiet funny to see all the CW XI players are against retiring ideas, and the non CWXI ers are mostly pro it....

No, of course they're not immortal. When Neil dies, presumably so does the CW NS Pickup.Loony BoB said:What Neil is suggesting is that our players are immortal, and this in my opinion is a bad thing for the game, not a good thing.
That'd make me sixteen at the time.roseboy64 said:24-11-2004
If I had to retire from internationals early just to get people to think that I actually do care about this place more than I care about my personal status in it, then I probably would. I'd hate for people to question my integrity in that way. I have no alterior motives with this suggestion.Cloete said:Which isn't a massive surprise. There's enough changing of the guard as it is. How fair is it to punish people becuase they've been around for that long when retirement was never talked about.
This is a problem I guess. But what Towns said is good.Marc said:But one big problem with it is that those who signed up early are being aged for barely any games in comparison to the current program
Towns said:Assuming 'barely any' is the 16 games they played, ie half the amount it is now, we could just take a year off their age for every two seasons they played under that season length. If it will satisfy those complaining about having to eventually retire, then I think we can make that kind of compromise.
