How much did slip cordons affect McGrath's and Wasim's records?

Please don't act now as if like the WTC Final is much more than a joke.... Can't say much about World Cups except them being lesser version of the sport.
It isn't a joke otherwise India wouldn't keep choking at it.

It's the same criteria as any ODI tournament. The best team in the tournament often fails at the final hurdle.

I think ODIs and Tests are fundamentally much different. So it's braindead to organize a single match Final after heaps of multi match series over a year.

I like the idea of a grand finale. Would be pathetic if India were handed the trophy after beating WI 2-0 at home in games nobody watches.

Congratulations. The world cup of BGT. We'll take the actual test championship and real World Cups.
You can win the next Test Championship too. And we'll take the BGT instead. Thanks.

Even if India were to win the next 2 Test Championships, it'd still remain a bit of a fun/joke play off match. Pales in comparison to any big test series.

It's unfortunate this small series mentality sees India miss out on major trophies.

India didn't choke in 2023 WTC Final. You are being a troll now. India didn't have Pant & Bumrah or Ashwin. So it was pretty obvious to any cricket fan that India were clear underdogs in that match playing a full strength Australian team who had come to England to win the Ashes.

Only the 2021 Final you can say India could have "drawn". Thats it. India was never winning either given the circumstances like it being a week after the IPL among several other factors, which have been mentioned many time previously.

If India really cared about it so much, they'd finish IPL early but that never happens.
IPL > WTC -for India.

India would like to win it once but after that it will lose its appeal and you know there's a good chance that they might even get rid of it eventually! Once it is done with eventually given how bogus the format is, who the f is even gonna think about it? So stop trolling.

Yes I was referring to 2021. They should have drawn it but collapsed on the last day. Objectively, it was a choke.

But i agree, it will remain an allure for India until they win it and its novelty wears off.

Drawing the WTC in 2021 would not qualify as 'winning the WTC'.

In fact there's only ONE icc tournament in last 10 yrs that India should have won and that is 2023 ODI WC.

Rest of the tournaments India was not even the favourite to win. Usually 2nd/3rd/4th favourite. So only the media makes it a big thing that india hasn't won icc events in recent years but fact is India has not been the "best" limited overs side almost every time.

2015 WC - Aus and NZ were better
2016 T20 - WI and Eng were better
2019 WC - Eng were better, Aus at same level
2021 T20 - Many teams were better
2022 T20 - couple of teams were better- Eng
2024 T20 - couple of teams still better

Tell me which of these was India really favourites to win? Answer is NONE. India has neither under-performed nor over-performed. They have finished about 'par' in these icc events, except 2023 wc.

india have a billion people and cricket is the only sport they play to a competitive level against countries like Aus, NZ, Eng that play dozens. They should win everything tbh
