How much did slip cordons affect McGrath's and Wasim's records?

But ODI format seems to have an expiry date i.e. it's likely to become redundant in the near future so history won't care who won what.

It'll ultimately be Tests and T20s with the latter format flourishing more globally. So truth be told, future generations will look at how many T20 WCs have nations won..
and possibly also who's been winning the Olympics Gold.

So get over it.

The first couple were a bit of a joke but ODI World Cups from ~ 1980s - 2020s will always be the peak achievements in cricket looking back, regardless of what happens to ODIs in the future. Even more than the Ashes.

T20 World Cups are a lottery and a dime a dozen, I actually couldn't tell you who won any of them other than the last 2, and that's only because of recency

Yeah I think even if ODIs are phased out the WC winners would be looked at as the pioneer achievements.

What should annoy you more is that we give them very little importance at all, but we still win world cups.
That's the thing. When this tournament for a nation like Australia is relatively less important than the Ashes and other Big Test series, they are relaxed going into it and thus able to perform at their best. Meanwhile subcontinent sides are going crazy with pressure & expectations and failing.
