only 2 matches you played? i thought you where a good player
Your forgetting that in Village Cricket, the squad is not chosen on ability, it is chosen on who's mates with the captain. I've got 3 matches on the next 3 Sundays with the board though :)

Or...how about I'm getting picked for a SHROPSHIRE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT XI and scored 38 for them on Sunday so I must have some ability? ;)

I suppose you've allways been a mate of the captain's?

I'm sorry but that means nothing because I know several people who have played for Lincolnshire Under 23 Rugby Development squad and that is picked by one bloke at a local club and anyone who is under 23 at this club gets a game. Maybe this SHROPSHIRE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT XI isn't like that but the name does nothing to impress though you can't be that bad if you managed 38. :)

My guess is if he's anything like the rest of us, he's not as satisfied with the recent Cricinfo output, so he's not visiting it as much?

Hmmm, I think you will find most village clubs scrape together who they can, and not just who is mates with the captain, so stop giving it a bad name :!(

Not when they have 17 players...

It's a team made up of promising young players from village clubs who are given a chance to impress the Shropshire board, hence the "Development."

Rik- how old are you then? are you on cricinfo
19, 20 in September. Nope I'm not on Cricinfo, only FC players get to be on there and some minor counties players but I'm not in the full Shropshire team.

20 runs at number 5 out of a total of 89, 2 catches including that of their best bat for 4 as we lost by 2 wickets, could have gone either way, basically a pitch as green as the outfield with loads of mud. Oh...and my Shropshire cap :D

58 runs in 2 innings, 3 chances, 3 catches.

TIMBERSCOMBE - 124 (Hingston 8-0-25-1)
STOKE SAINT MARY - 125/4 (Hingston 38)

Bowled a pretty poor spell as we scuttled out a very poor team for 124.. Should have been much less but our fielding was abysmal..

Finally won a match with the bat though,i look like a good batsman, but have never scored runs when it really matters and to hold the innings together at four in front of quite a few influential club people was a good feeling!:D

Got back to practice at the AJ Sports/Al-Sha'anzi cricket academy, awful start.....not surprising coz I haven't played for just under two months, working to get my fitness level back up again first, then try to improve in all aspects of my game.

STOKE SAINT MARY 123 (Hingston 4)
TAUNTON SHADOWS 29 (DNB)

Tried playing a load of fancy shots on what was a very dangerous pitch, and only made four before being caught as usual on the leg side....

One of their guys got hit in the mouth from a ball that flew, they never looked like hitting in their runs and their last wicket put on nearly all their runs, horrible pitch, but quite a good game for us....

Nice scores Rik.

My scores for the season are:

Game 1: 38 and 79 vs Everest Cricket Club on 15 May, 2003
An away game in which we our 2nd division team won, also grabbed 4-57.

Game 2: 45 in game One and 12 in game 2 vs England Under-15 Team.
Home game against the English Touring side in which we lost all the games against them, they were captained by Michael Oshea.

Game 3: 107* vs Georgetown Cricket Club.
The game was drawn due to the rainy weather. Since this game cricket has been indifinitely suspended until July due to the rainy season.

Add 23 to that list of scores. Came in at 170-4 with 10 overs left, scored 23 off about 20 balls in the slogfest.

Then took 1-0-2-1 as the opposition's best bat top edged a full toss.

We made 227, they made 69. Our opener batted for 36 overs for 24, then took 1-1-0-2, tailenders of course!
