Hayden calls Harbhajan an obnoxious weed

nah.. Sunny is no angel but personally, I don't think he was as bad as Border.

And yeah, would rather have the trophy named after some other worthies, tbh. :)

Neither of them were great examples to follow in terms of behaviour...
Seriously wish everyone would stop trying to turn it into an "us vs them" situation. Ruins threads, and the forums for mine.

Only trouble is, I think we'd all have to go back a hell of a long way to find two who we could name it after.

Thinking back to the early days of tests between the tw - Armanarth/ Miller trophy maybe?

Or because he showed disgust and contempt at the umpires and at the batsman when Steve Waugh picked up a ball that was rolling on the ground off a shot by Krish Srikkanth in the 1986 ODI series and then claimed a bloody catch??????
HB you saw STAR CRICKET in the morning rite.......i was laughing at that incident:laugh:

Good old Sunny's famous dummy-spitting walk off and his overtly racist remarks about WI crowds in his autobio don't affect his entitlement to be on the trophy though, right?
How is Sunny's remarks about the Jamaican crowd is a racist one ? He didn't single out any particular race there, poor choice of words, obviously, but racist, dont think so. Here is the comment in full :-

"To call the crowd a 'crowd' in Jamaica is a misnomer. It should be called a 'mob'. The way they shrieked and howled every time Holding bowled was positively horrible. They encouraged him with shouts of 'Kill him, Maaaan!' 'Hit im Maan!', 'Knock his head off Mike!' All this proved beyond a shadow of doubt that these people still belonged to the jungles and forests, instead of a civilised country.... "

He also said of Lloyd's captaincy :- "It was not great captaincy, it was barbarism."

Hayden said he had repeatedly told Sharma to settle down and yesterday said he would like to meet the bowler in a boxing ring.

"He is just young. I have said to him many times, 'You are 19, take it easy'," Hayden said. "At the end of the day you are 19, why don't you just worry about your bowling for a while?"
Why is he so bothered about him???

as far as i know i havent seen any new ball bowler troubling hayden that much in recent memory in ODI....:)

yeah.. not today morning, seen it earlier... was juz one of the dumbest things I ve seen in cricket... Even the crowd would have seen that the ball was rolling on the ground and Border and Steve Waugh were acting as though the decision was some catastrophe..

He also made him eat his words... "I can walk down the track and counter their swing coz they have no pace"... Didn't see him do that much against Ishant......

Australia is also bemused at the angry antics of beanpole quick Ishant Sharma, who was fined for waving his finger at Symonds and pointing to the Australian dressing room when he claimed the Queenslander's wicket on Sunday.

It is understood Symonds said, "Well bowled, champ" at Sharma as he walked off.
What the hell...

Wasn't it symonds who kick started the sydney controversy saying that cricket field is no place to congratulate the opponent..and went after harbhajan when he patted lee's back..:-O

So now when he needed a protection he goes back and says that he just congratulated ishanth how ironic

Sarcasm; highly likely with Symonds.

As for the Sunny Jamaican crowd quote, the reason it's so offensive is the elitism of it. Essentially he was generalising about an entire population that they're lesser human beings than he is. Of course that's going to offend.

Don't see what was wrong with Faaip & Kazo's comments. Judging by the reaction from all fans in this thread, I think most people think that Hayden was pretty close to the mark. However, that doesn't mean we all agree he should be showing absolutely no tact and crapping on about it to the media.

I agree with you re: SST & Swervy though, but they're hardly the majority.
He named 4 people out of around 14 Australians who have posted in this thread, thats hardly a majority.

Haha. I-RONY!

Hayden's got no right to come out in the media and randomly abuse others for being obnoxious. It's hardly going to help his own image, let alone that of his team.

EDIT: I, too, am hoping for an all out brawl, but the downside of that is that Australia would probably win. Although at least unlike in Test cricket, the other team might at least take down one or two of the Aussies.
Not the smartest thing to say this from Haydos, after all the monkey-gate controversy this was really un-called for and i think all this can boil-over on the field if something is not done to cool things off between the two sides, Hayden could in Barney for saying such a thing.
