in whatever context, 'cheeky' or 'filthy', it's not offensive in Indhmm where thats true, there is a massive difference between saying, "you cheeky monkey" and "you filthy monkey", obviously there is a significant difference between the two.
well again, thats irrespective, it is in Australia, which is where the said controversy took place.in whatever context, 'cheeky' or 'filthy', it's not offensive in Ind
cheers
Meh, I like him, I think his Tony Blair was about the best going around (one might even argue, later on, better than the real one...) and while McGowan and Acona > Bird, Bremner and Fortune, I was always a huge fan of both.imo he was only any good whilst appearing on whose line is it anyway?
haah yes agree actually, look up his john major impression on youtube as well, that is also very good.Meh, I like him, I think his Tony Blair was about the best going around (one might even argue, later on, better than the real one...) and while McGowan and Acona > Bird, Bremner and Fortune, I was always a huge fan of both.
Nah, it took place in Ind, if my memory serves right .... Symo was affected by Bhajji's remark and then the chants by the crowd in the ODI series in Indwell again, thats irrespective, it is in Australia, which is where the said controversy took place.
Is this really neccessary? If you like ending every post with "cheers" so much, why not simply sig it?cheers
well ok then, fair enough, but then again, lets say for example in australia Harb was called a "B*stard", this is considered an every day light insult over there, but there would still be uproar overseas if what you have said is to be believed.Nah, it took place in Ind, if my memory serves right .... cheers
i like to end my posts that way .... but yeah, putting in in the siggy is a good idea too. will consider thatIs this really neccessary? If you like ending every post with "cheers" so much, why not simply sig it?
I hv nothing against the uproar .... just the hypocrisy where a 'monkey' becomes a offensive remark and a 'bastard' a friendly banterwell ok then, fair enough, but then again, lets say for example in australia Harb was called a "B*stard", this is considered an every day light insult over there, but there would still be uproar overseas if what you have said is to be believed.
thats all relative to where you are in the world though surely? What is offensive in one part of the world may not be in another, and vice versa.I hv nothing against the uproar .... just the hypocrisy where a 'monkey' becomes a offensive remark and a 'bastard' a friendly banter
cheers
All I can say is that I have absolutely no respect for Hayden after hearing this. Here are full comments by Hayden. Loved his imitation of Sharma's accent.
yep and whats interesting is that the 'OZ' promote sledging as an 'art', if i m not wrong, whereas the Ind don't. for Ind, its probably offensivethats all relative to where you are in the world though surely? What is offensive in one part of the world may not be in another, and vice versa.
so youre arguing that sledging justifies racism? oh dear.yep and whats interesting is that the 'OZ' promote sledging as an 'art', if i m not wrong, whereas the Ind don't. for Ind, its probably offensive
so if the OZ's want to continue sledging, they can be my guest but then they should not take offense at 'Symo' being called a monkey .... if Symo calls Bhajji or any other Ind anything, then Inds hv a right to call him a monkey coz at the end of the day both teams are saying things according to the parameters of whats acceptable in their cultures. If the OZs are going to complain abt that remark and continue sledging then i don't see a point in that
just my 2 cents
cheers
He's arguing that they're both equally offensive depending on where you're from, yet one is universally condemned while the other is glorified.so youre arguing that sledging justifies racism? oh dear.
another way to put that would be that saying someone a monkey is NOT racism and is like the 'friendly banter' as defined by the OZ. it's not even as bad as someone the f-word [which is not bad for some at all]so youre arguing that sledging justifies racism? oh dear.
oh right ok, misread the post somewhere then, but even so this doesnt in any way excuse making racist remarks. He's arguing that they're both equally offensive depending on where you're from, yet one is universally condemned while the other is glorified.
No it doesnt. However the Australians attempting to finesse the distinctions between 'plain' sledging and racist abuse is sheer nonsense. Hayden's mimicking there of Ishant was as offensive as Harbhajan allegedly calling Symonds a monkey, except there was proof in this one.so youre arguing that sledging justifies racism? oh dear.
