Must be a big room for their planning meeting, but I heard talk ont he radio that there's some campaign via text message about turning their backs on the Indian team - seems a bit silly to turn your back on something you pay $80 odd bucks to watch.nice use of this word i.e. "planning" !
Agreed. If Symonds thought that though, he really should have ignored him and mentioned his thoughts to his team mates later, imo.
Yeah I second that. I'm sick of all the coverage and debate. Frankly now both sides are starting to look really ugly and when that happens you know it's in everybody's best interest to move on. Sadly the media loves this sort of stuff and it tends to linger more than it should.I think this whole saga is absurd , I can't wait for this whole rubbish fiasco to be buried for good and we get back to watching some good decent Cricket without all this goings on about who said what to whom and all the rubbish...
Time to Bury this for good !!
Thank you for contributing so positively to the discussion.I really hate Harbanjan
The audience are the one's who will miss out. Won't come across nearly as effective on television. I don't think anybody will care, the Indian players certainly won't.Must be a big room for their planning meeting, but I heard talk ont he radio that there's some campaign via text message about turning their backs on the Indian team - seems a bit silly to turn your back on something you pay $80 odd bucks to watch.
If both teams say they just want to move on, the last thing anyone needs is for it to all blow up again, in another form.
i hate him because he is an idiot every body knows thatThank you for contributing so positively to the discussion.
Very likely that a component of the crowd will, just as if the game was being held in India there would be a component of the crowd that would likely abuse Symonds - nothing particularly surprising given the coverage the incident has received.Rumor is that about 80K plus Aussie fans are going to turn up at MCG for the 20/20 match and planning to give Indian team esp Bhajji some real stick from the stands.
Yeah true, but we also know that the sky is blue and what colour an orange is don't we? Even the most ardent Indian fan will tell you the guy is an idiot, but if you read through the thread then you'll know that it's not that plain and obvious and it's pretty clear (to me anyway) that it always takes two to tango.i hate him because he is an idiot every body knows that
Internet My friend. I was getting my daily dose of Youtube and this popped up.Very likely that a component of the crowd will, just as if the game was being held in India there would be a component of the crowd that would likely abuse Symonds - nothing particularly surprising given the coverage the incident has received.
Obviously the people in charge of security are concerned, and there have been public comments from the police today warning that they will be adopting a zero tolerance approach to any crowd misbehaviour tonight. But there was always going to be a big crowd at this game regardless of the controversy. There's an old joke that you'd get 35,000 Melbourians turning out to watch a dung beetle race if it was being held at the MCG. The first (IIRC) 20/20 international in Melbourne? I'd be staggered if it wasn't sold out.
I highly doubt all the people that will be going will be going for the purpose of slinging abuse at Bhajji. I'm planning to go to the ODI in Melbourne next weekend, and its to see cricket, and farewell Gilly, not give Harbhajan a hard time.
BTW, love to know where you heard that "rumour".

Yeah agreed. I'm back in Melbourne now after being 3 weeks in Perth. I was a little apprehensive being an Indian supporter and going to the WACA test match as all this had just happened. But there really is a big difference between a test match crowd and a limited overs crowd. The test match crowd is always almost more insightful, more appreciative of good cricket and just more calm and observent. Had no problems and it was a pleasure talking to many of the Aussie supporters on the ground who were really keen on the Indian players too.As I was telling someone last night, I wouldn't be surprised if fights break out and in general there was a pretty big anti-India sentiment in the crowd. The timing is horrible and I wouldn't feel safe if I was an Indian surrounded by an massive angry mob of Aussies. No way I'd go if I was. All it takes is a few idiots.
However it does help that it is a fast paced game with little time for distraction and much less time to get drunk. Fingers crossed anyways.
That's just not true:

Haha - fair enough. Whenever I see Shane Lee on Sky, I'm struck by how much the guy's porked up.Internet My friend. I was getting my daily dose of Youtube and this popped up.
And I am not concerned about the crowd (mis)behavior and would be really surprised if something like this happened. TBF I have been impressed by the aussie crowd through out the Test series and the way they have applauded good cricket and ignored all the controversies. I am confident that it wont be much different for this match. I am looking forward to the game. I wish we could do the same here on this forum.
I will give the crowd little more credit than that. They have been excellent throughout the series. IMO the tension is more in the media than among the fans. I am sure the fans are going to come out and cheer Gilly and Tendulkar with pretty much same enthusiasm. As I was telling someone last night, I wouldn't be surprised if fights break out and in general there was a pretty big anti-India sentiment in the crowd. Seriously, how?
Gave Harby benefit of doubt in India when he could have filed similar complaint
Didnt change his story or attempt to make mileage out of it in media
Took second example through proper channels
Didnt change his story or attempt to make mileage out of it in media
Gave honest answers to questions even though they did not reflect well upon him nor colour test cricket as being anything other than what it is
The only people that can have a problem with that are those that long for the village green
Maybe because Harby's action werent so friendly?
It's all about the history between the two - it wasnt violent and might've been a mark of respect but guys like Symonds justifiably have no time for Harby and dont want him to think things have suddenly changed just because he starts playing the nice guy.
