Apparently Reid got a yellow card for his celebration. That's a bit harsh, innit?

To do with the timewasting.

JUst be thankful he hadn't already been booked - would've been off then.

Thought the shirt off booking thing was due to players advertising rival brands on their undershirts but they dressed it up as a "delay of game"?

I don't understand why.

I've always thought of it as being something to do with the actual shirt sponsors themselves not being happy with it, rather than such a concern about what's underneath

Not a rule I've ever been a fan of

I thought it was pretty rugged when he took his shirt off. Apparently they had a planned celebration for a goal but they forgot all about it when it happened.

Some of our players such as Tony Lochhead (sp?) had poor showings but other players in the line up are definitely under rated. Our defence is pretty rugged too. Can't believe we got a draw. I was happy at half time when it was 0-0 and then my heart sank when it was 1-0 then I fell asleep.

Awoke to hear a car honking its horn and didn't know if it was a slovakian supporter or a kiwi but figured that we might have done something special. Didn't find out though till I got to work.

The bookings started before the slogans started to be honest - slogans on undershirts tend to bring a charge from the governing body if they're inflammatory or political.

Sometimes common sense can prevail and a player isn't booked but can fully understand how in the current climate he got a yellow.

Not expecting anything from the All Whites today, apart from that they acquit themselves well and make it as hard as possible for Italy to score.

It's great that, no matter the results today, we will at least have a mathematical chance of getting through to the next round if we beat Paraguay. Hate dead rubbers.

There's a small, stupidly optimistic part of me that reckons we could get away with a 0-0 draw tonight. Our defence is reasonable, and with Italy traditionally not at their best in the group stages, plus this Italian team not looking the greatest, there's cause for optimism.

Realistically though, we're going to struggle to get any possession, and are likely going to be camped in our own half for much for the game, and since we're slow to counter, our only chances are going to come through long balls and set pieces.

Reckon 3-0 sounds about right. To NZ, that is

Not Terrible
I put a punt on a few of our strikers to score since they were paying so bloody high.

Of course I hedged that bet with a multi-bet on Italy and Brazil to both win. Looking forward to this, hope we can keep it with a goal or two.

Just need to make like Greece in Euro 2004.

Also, a draw in Slovakia v Paraguay please :)
