who says minnows are underrepresented on this forum!Did anyone notice we beat England at Lord's?
Well deep in the lower order. No depth in batting quality though. Get 2-3 key wickets and England will really struggle.Pretty deep batting line-up, in theory
Schreibe in Englisch, bitte.P.S. je hebben Engeland op Lord's verslagen
Its a bit like SRI batting line-up in a way. It could very well & backfire but could get ENG far in this tournament due to the depth in bowling.Well deep in the lower order. No depth in batting quality though. Get 2-3 key wickets and England will really struggle.
---- Younus Khan.It would be sad if we don't make it, but I have never attached too much importance to Twenty20 cricket, as it is fun cricket. I mean it is more for entertainment, even if it is international cricket. It is all for the crowd.
Sounds like sour grapes. If they were doing well, he wouldn't have that attitude.---- Younus Khan.
Why bother to turn up then? Worrying attitude indeed.
For the fun; for the crowd. As he said. Why bother to turn up then?
I am not against his "fun comment", but his comment that "he does not attach much importance to it". This coming from the captain in a T20 world cup is indeed cringeworthy. If he himself does not take it seriously. nobody expects the team members to either. For the fun; for the crowd. As he said.
TBH, I actually agree with him. I'm starting to enjoy watching Twenty20 cricket more and more, but I think part of that is because I don't have hang-ups about what I think should happen, who I think is good and who I want to win. There's no real context of results - you pick a team at the start of the game and cheer them on. That's the concept. It doesn't mean you shouldn't try to win and it doesn't mean you shouldn't pick the best team available to you, but it's not the end of the world if you lose, IMO.
I don't think it proves a lot and I don't think the results are particularly important. A lot of people disagree and that's fair enough, but I personally don't think there's a lot wrong with how Younis views it.
Yeah, I don't really take an issue with him not attaching importance to the results though, nor the rest of his team. I'm sure they'll play to win but I don't think there should be any tears shed if they lose.I am not against his "fun comment", but his comment that "he does not attach much importance to it". Well, fans are not really expected to take games seriously, but players, being the professionals they are, are expected to. How can a team strive to win if they are not serious about the results? But good thing that Younis spoke frankly than the usual "We will not be taking the <opposition minnow team> lightly. We will go out and give our best" cliche. But sometimes as captains you just have to speak cliche.Yeah, I don't really take an issue with him not attaching importance to the results though, nor the rest of his team. I've watched every game - I've actually changed my sleeping patterns to do so - but I don't take the results seriously at all. How can I expect the players to?
There is no way anyone, even the staunchest T20 hater, could justify Younis actually saying that though, whether he believes it or not. Firstly, you know he wouldn't say it had they been winning. And secondly, its a slap in the face to the fans.I don't think it proves a lot and I don't think the results are particularly important. A lot of people disagree and that's fair enough, but I personally don't think there's a lot wrong with how Younis views it.
Because they are paid professionals representing their nation.I've watched every game - I've actually changed my sleeping patterns to do so - but I don't take the results seriously at all. How can I expect the players to?
