Scheduling is a bit naf. Start on Sunday and the hosts is the only game? Just start on the friday then we have 2 full days on the weekend.
Yeah I remember some starting Friday, others midweek, but never Sunday. Just another strange thing about this WC

There only being one game on day one is normal though. Used to be the holders. Think it was 2006 when that tradition changed to the hosts

Before 2006 the holders automatically qualified. So I guess for once the change was logical as only the hosts pre-qualified.

Yeah, although I don’t believe the holders have failed to qualify since. That being said the hosts opening the tournament feels right

Yeah, he's a centre half by trade.

Although his versatility is probably one of the larger factors in his selection.

This is not as straight forward for England as it appears , I do expect them to go through but Wales will be like a Derby match and USA have shocked England in World Cups before , and with this being an Arab World Cup I would be surprised if atleast one Asian nation did not make it to the knockout stage ..Iran won't be fazed

I wouldn't.

Looking at the groups the hosts probably have the best chance, but even then I'd probably take Ecuador and Senegal above them.

No one ever got rich overestimating England, but we haven't ever lost to an Asian* (or African, as it happens) nation.

*Unless one counts Australia, and I don't.

Walker right centre back Trippier right back is a strong option for England in a back four with a group of weak teams to play against. 4-3-3 with Bellingham the central player of the midfield 3 would be a positive option to take.
Does Walker have experience of playing centre back in a back 4?

Not sure about that. Naturally I remember 1970 more clearly than anything more recent, and I don't think England were in the opening game then; whereas I think the hosts Mexico were. I'll have a look at others.

EDIT
Wiki assure me that 1970 was the last time until 2006 when the hosts played instead of the holders in the first match, so fair enough.

I don't think Iranians like being described as Arabs, you know.
