The one thing that I’d say is a bit sad is you have all these incredible performances by associate and weaker nations being played in front of mostly empty stadiums. There’s never been more depth in world cricket but the average follower of the game doesn’t give a ****. Hopefully this Tournament helps to raise awareness for the future.

Just as height is your hobby horse, death bowling is mine. What's been so bad about it?
I posted that when Bangladesh almost let the Dutch tail back into the game from an impossible position with a mixture of wides and knee high full tosses. Was the day after Nawaz’s final over of high full tosses and wides v India.

I don’t think it’s usually a problem to this extent? Just Aussies being Aussies innit

"When we were coming to Australia, I said to my captain, 'if you become Man of the Match, pick any watch from the catalogue and I'll buy it for you, but if I become Man of the Match, you're going to buy me one'," Raza said, explaining why he demonstrated to his wrist when he was named Player of the Match on Thursday. "I was just reminding him that he now owes me three watches."

This one's a gem.

The thing that hits me right in the feels as a cricket fan is when I look at some of these teams like Zimbabwe, due to their economic situation this might be their last shot at making an ICC tournament...
All their best players Ervine , Williams , Raza they are in the twilight of their careers and when they are gone who is going to replace them? Yes they could use this as launchpad to a brighter future but there is also the danger of them fading away into obscurity like what happened to Kenya . And the ICC let's that happen time and time again .. The ICC has failed to grow the game treating the smaller teams like peasants.

Well part of the problem is that money the ICC sent to Zim ended up in the personal bank accounts of the ZC hierarchy. It is somewhat better now but cricket in Zim has been battling an enormous economic and political headwind for 20+ years.

Great strength remains in the Zim school system: they will continue to produce good cricketers, whether they can keep them is another matter.

I've often said, and this tournament proves it, that Zim offer something to world cricket it would be a great shame to lose. Many don't understand how popular cricket is in Zim and how broad the base of support is. I saw personally in Hobart how much it means to diaspora Zimbabweans to see their country play.

What a tournament so far.
Someone said it in a post a bit back that I CBF finding, but it shows with the right 'meaning' and context, anything can be entertaining. I absolutely abhor T20Is because they're nothing more than a cash grab. But this tournament has been epic.

And another great point made is that two teams qualifying from a pool of 6, rather than something like 4 from 6 or whatever, just gives so much more meaning to every game. Every game could make or break your tournament. I'm even a fan of the pre-qualifying, because that felt like part of the tournament, too. It's just been so much fun so far, even with Australia's shithouse climate.

Whatever it takes!!!
Its sad for Pak. This is just like India in the Asia Cup. Two final over losses does not mean you are a bad team. Sure, you could have played better but such is the format.

I also said it last year and it may have been considered sour grapes given they just beat us, but they are way too India-centric. It runs deep with Pak right now, with their Government, PCB and their players. Its one thing for the fans to treat the games Vs India as the be-all, end-all. But the establishment should set higher goals. It happened even in the last WC.

Pak need to find a more dependable #3 and #4. And I am still not convinced Babar has to open. Rizwan and Shan or Rizwan and Fakhar would do just fine. Babar can bat 3 and be the anchor. I am not very convinced by any of the batters they have wheeled out 4-6 in recent years. They are missing Hafeez and Shoaib Malik type batsmen to bat 4 and 5.
