Was going to post this as well.I do think Tendulkars 98 against Pakistan in 2003 should be up there as his best knock. A lot of pressure in that match. If only Razzaq took that catch!
Yeah, clutch knock. Not to forget Bevan who was alongside him in the '99 semi and back in the '96 semi too in an even more desperate situation.Was going to post this as well.
Steve Waugh's century vs South Africa in the Super 6s 1999 WC was phenomenal against a very good attack (where Gibbs dropped the WC)
With Andy bichel in 2003 WC I thinkMichael Bevan against England. Can't remember the context, might have been a world cup? England needed to win to stay in the tournament anyway. Caddick took apart the Aussie top order and left them five or six down for nothing chasing a decent score. Bevan somehow got them home.
Same 2 guys (Bevan and Bichel) then did the same thing against NZ 2 games later, taking Aus from 7/84 to a defendable total, and they ended up winning by nearly 100 runsWith Andy bichel in 2003 WC I think
Came on to say this. Incredible innings.Robin Smith's unbeaten 167 against Australia at Edgbaston in 1993 - sadly not enough to enable us to win the game though
Correction:Viv Richards - 189 and 2/45
Kapil Dev - 175 and 1/32
Aravinda - 1996 World Cup Semifinal and Final (he got the century in the final but the semifinal was an even more brilliant innings}
SRT - Desert Storm innings
Ricky Ponting - 2003 World Cup Final
Adam GIlchrist - 2011 World Cup Final
I rate Gilchrist 149 > De Silva 107* > Ponting 140*Correction:
Adam GIlchrist - 2007 World Cup Final
