Unless you're of the mind to discount him based on era, I find RSA sides that exclude Faulkner a bit strange tbh. He's not that much worse than ABdV as a batsman so thus enables the perfect bowling balance (4 pace, 2 spin) without significantly compromising batting. Especially if you're playing Procter.

I agree to all.of your points and would be a decent candidate to replace Nourse.

If one gave the gloves to ABdv, it can also create space for him and give the team almost limitless bowling options.

But I genuinely don't rate players from the era. Hobbs was so far off the mean and lasted just a bit later that he's the exception.

Nah, ABD and Faulkner have some batting gap. Afterall, in FC, Faulkner was a bowling all-rounder (arguably). I think for him to play ABD should keep.
