Is there any weakness in Smith’s record so far?
In my opinion, no.

1. Gary Sobers averaged 23 against NZ in 12 Tests. Brian Lara averaged 34 against Ind in 17 Tests.

Steven Smith averages 45+ against every country he has played.

2. Gary Sobers played 38 out of 93 Tests against Ind/Pak/NZ, the weak teams of his era.

Steven Smith played 16 out of 113 Tests against SL/WI/Bang.

3. Sachin Tendulkar has arguably the perfect record in Test cricket but he never had a huge series. Though one can say he played a 5 Test series just 2 or 3 times.

Smith scored 750+ runs in a series twice. One against England in 8 innings and One against India in 7 innings.

What is his weakness? I can't see any.
His peak was incredibly padded which inflated his record. Also can't ignore his dip coincided with improving pace bowling globally so will be used against him.

Having said that, incredibly consistent cross countries and competition and ATG peak series under his belt.

Even during his peak(2014-2019) he was easily the best and ahead of the rest.

You are looking too hard for holes. You can do that with any batsman.

Huge gap between home and away, like Imran.
Smith(2014-2019)
Home : 26 Tests. 2917 runs @ 83. 12 tons.
Away : 28 Tests. 3103 runs @ 66. 12 tons.

I do not think there is a vast difference between his home and away record during his peak and his away record is significantly much better than his peers.

the constant urge in his old age to try to smack a bowling coming in to the leg side but missing and getting LBWed
He does walk across quite a bit, agree. Allows him to loft many pacers like he did today morning but leaves leg stump exposed

That's literally one above me.

Based on your vote you have him above Sobers so I'm guessing just below Bradman, Tendulkar and Hobbs?
I voted for Smith for justice. It's hard to rate anyone from last 50 years above Smith (unless you combine formats or interpret greatness broadly). Hobbs and Sobers I could because there are only tales and grainy footage to go by so you can extend benefit of doubt. I could go anywhere between 2nd and 5th for Smith.

If a batsman is doing 67 away, it's like saying Don was a minnow basher since he averages 89 vs England which is 10 runs lower.
