Ugh. Not out of debt yet. Damn relegations and failure to have a decent youth pull. Not sure what's happened to the transfer market, but perhaps there are fewer human players than in the past.

The youth pulls suck arse. It's not sustainable when you pump money into your academy and then get 1-2 decent youths out of it a season if you are lucky. We are going to possibly end up with more extra cash this season than last, which is good, but we are only a bad season away from running into trouble. To be fair, we always are.

These are my youth pulls this season. I am obviously due a massive 36k rated 16 year old in the last week of the season to make up for all of this ****.

I kept one (Finlayson) - the highest rated - because I need a keeper replacement. I will have to buy two short-term before he is possibly ready though. He won't be great, but he'll probably do at some stage.

Huge win for our affiliate team this week. Got up against the Brew Boys by 2 runs. We have a stronger team than last season, and are currently ranked 2nd in the country, but we have had a tough run at the start of the season, being up against 3 of the 4 potentially top teams off the bat. We are currently sitting at 2/2, and hopefully we will improve on this as we play some of the teams drifting towards the bottom of the table.

My other team is currently on top, having won 4 from 4, so hopefully we have the resources to keep that up for the rest of the season.

The bloke we are playing against in the Pavilion Cup messaged me earlier this week to suggest we play on a slow wicket and they bat first to 'entertain the crowd'. He came 2nd last time I think, so we are going to get hammered.

Instead, I set our orders to bat first and we won the toss, so we are currently 90/7. Hopefully minimising the amount of energy players lose in the process.

A quick game's a good game and all that.

Haha, yeah that sucks a bit. Good at a glance, but if they had poor - atrocious for Either batting / bowling and keeping, they'd be very handy. I got this guy, who is rated a fair bit lower, but I kept him because he is dreadful for batting and keeping, with the other skills not being too bad. I also kept him because my youth recruits have been ****ing woeful for at least 2 seasons, so he is quite good in comparison with what I usually get. The guy I pulled this week was rated at 10k.

Massive win today. I've had issues beating this team for a number of seasons, and it looked like we were on our way to another loss today. As we were 1st - out in front by 1 win, and they were 2nd, we were going to have a nice buffer going into the 2nd half of the season if we could get up. They were cruising at 140/3 with 10 overs to go on a slow deck, and I was thinking that they might kick on and get well over 200 at that stage, however we managed to take the last 7 wickets for 46 to keep them to 186 all out. In contrast, we dragged our feet with the bat for the 1st 30 overs, and with 10 to go needed 62 runs with 5 wickets in hand, only one of those being a middle order bat. The other was a bowler (we have a long tail). However, they had their 2 weakest bowlers bowling the last 8, obviously hoping that the others would have done the job by then and reduced us to a position where it wouldn't matter. We took 20 off the 33rd over and followed that up with 10 off the 34th. Boundaries consistently came from that point onwards, alongside frequent singles, and we got to the target still 5 down with 2.5 overs to go.

We're now 8 points clear at the top. Next week we play the guy who is currently rating the highest in the league, but he is losing a Youth international player due to them turning 21, so hopefully we can win that one too and maintain an 8 point buffer with 6 games to go. We're only losing 2 guys through that period, and hopefully have enough backup to get to the end of the season.
