Is this some kind of excuse you're putting out there to insulate yourself in case you lose to me next week?

I mean if you beat us then I'm gonna feel even worse. Kudos on the 4D chess.
Actually this is pretty much an inevitability as I'm resting players to go all out in my cup game on Sunday. Which feels daft because I'll almost certainly lose. I'm hoping they rest players in the cup match because I'm lower rated , and we may sneak an upset...

Just wait until my guys bowl. I've no bowlers suitable for the deck. Unless all your batsmen are knackered, it'll be closer than it looks.

EDIT: And this is quite the collapse anyway!
Ha those two batsmen really sealed the game for you. I really only had two good batsmen and they scored some runs but not enough

Massive waste of time this was. Should've played full strength vs Heef to improve my league chances and just accept the L for the cup ahead of time

haemorrhaging money atm

Lost to the guy I normally lose to when I outrate him (this time by 10k). Lost by 10 runs, but none of my bats really got a start bar no.5. He must be doing something special with his A/N/D settings as his overs are your stock standard 4 a bowler.

Interesting - do you do your bowlers in lots of 4? Or are you referring to Youths?

The team I am playing today in Youth Twenty/20 has a roster of 23 players made up entirely of youth recruits, with 90% of them being very good to excellent...meanwhile we scrape around on our arses trying to get a single good recruit a season. What the **** is going on? I have emailed admin to clarify what happens with the youth recruits as it has been something that has been annoying me for a while. When a team can get 100% of its members via youth recruits and not have to spend any money on players, that's a fairly ****ing significant advantage you would think.

As a comparison, 10 of our players (out of 20) are youth recruits. 3 of them are there because I started to realise I was unlikely to get anything better, so while they may be ready to play for the team when they are about 20, I am not going to get much out of them before then. There's still a chance 1 or 2 of them will never be good enough unless we are totally desperate.

I thought maybe there was some mechanism in place to help the lower-ranked teams by giving them access to more youth recruits, but this bloke's team is ranked 10th in the country, so he's not exactly a slouch. He's going to flog me today, because I have played all of my younger players, and I don't have 16 year olds rated between 30k & 35k like he does.

My affiliate team has a similar hit rate - 10 players are recruits, but I have only had 1 in the past 3 and a bit seasons rated over 24k, which is where I'd want them to be for Youth 1.1. So out of the 10, maybe 5 have been good.

This is a pretty short sample size - my 2 teams, but in comparison, 23 out of 23 recruits seems like a hell of an outlier.

I very rarely buy any players as I generally don't have the time to piss about with the transfer market. As such, both my youth teams are wholly youth recruits.

Currently, my best rating for a 16.x player is 27,229 for a player at 16.13.

I have a 17.13 year old with a rating of 37,215 but he's a wicket keeper where ratings tend to be higher. I have a 17.10 all-rounder with a rating of 34,110. I have one 18yo with a rating in excess of 35k.

Yeah, the highest rated 16 year old I have is 28k (16.13 years old), and I bought them on the transfer market. I have an 18 year old (almost 19 year old) keeper who is at 43k, also bought on the transfer market.

I would keep/play 20 out of the 23 players this bloke has recruited in my Youth 1.1 team. 1 or 2 of the other 3 in his list are the equal/better than 95% of what I have recruited in the past 3 seasons.

Recruiting at a rate of 4 very good players a season is a hell of a hit rate. Maybe his academy is at the highest level and this guarantees him more good recruits, but I am only two levels down from the top and get **** all.

It’s easy to be suspicious when the guy running it has been busted for cheating before but I suspect, statistically speaking, this sort of outcome is well within expected chances of happening.

Yeah, it probably is. Although when you're getting 1-2 decent recruits in 3 seasons, and another guy has got 12+, that's quite an anomaly. I guess it depends on whether he eventually gets the massive dip in quality you'd expect, or if this is sustained over a long period of time. For him to be where he is now, he has to have had a very good 3-4 seasons of recruits. I have had 4-5 in a season before, so I guess it isn't impossible.

I reckon I have had a good 5-6 seasons of, on average, 1-2 good picks.

I wish it was easier to get a stronger team with home grown youth pulls. I don't really play the transfer market and I think this season and last season were the only times I have really bought youth players after giving it a concerted go for like, a week a time. I just really cbf, so I guess I can't really complain about not having a great side. Also, I just plain suck at the game.

But it does really annoy me that there's such an obvious disparity in YPs amongst teams. Surely it can't be purely down to academy level? I probably get one realy good YP a season, and 2-3 that I keep because I have players heading to seniors every season and keep them to make sure I have the 12 minimum.

19.10: 43,821
18.05: 34,897
17.13: 32,774 (literally the only 17 yo atm)
16.01: 22,517
