For Australians...

For Australians, who would you rather win in the upcoming Test series

India. Don't want anyone to beat them at home until the next time Australia tour.

Furthermore, I don't want England to get a psychological advantage before the Ashes and I don't want to start doubting Australia's ability to win the Ashes.

Even though 2005 was the best Ashes I've seen and also the most enjoyable, from a fan's perspective I'd still prefer the prospect of a 5-0 whitewash than a possible English victory.

When we win this two-part contest, it will prove we're the best side in the world, who gives a **** who supports us

This is a tough one. I think most Australians would have a bigger problem with India these days, but not looking like ever taking 20 wickets in India and then watching them get beaten by England would be quite a blow to Australian ego TBH.

If I were Australian, it'd be a tough choice. I'd probably root for Harbhajan to get smashed around while India win the series.

From the perspective of wanting Australia to remain the best team in the world, it's obviously India who should win.

I'd kinda rather England won for other reasons though. I don't think it means all that much in terms of the "who is #1?" debate what happens. Australia haven't declined badly enough to surrender that spot just yet anyway.

I just prefer England's side in general so I'd like to see them perform. Main thing remains a good contest though, blah blah.

Pedantry, but Australia did actually take 20 wickets in the current test. And I'd argue they did "look like" taking 20 in Bangalore too, mainly because of Johnson's first innings bowling. Your point stands otherwise though.

Yea, fair enough. Before this Test though, it was something like 14, 13, 14 though.

Only if you thought that this was the best Australian side which could have been selected, which I don't

This is the first time Australians can whinge about that though (although it was used as an excuse that Hussey should have replaced Hayden, and Gillespie shouldn't have played long enough during the Ashes).

Fans all across the world have pointed to ridiculous selections during the last few years. You hear it from English and Indian fans all the time. Its rarely the key reason for a loss IMO.

I think even if you had Kresja in for the whole series, and Clark instead of Cam White (what other selection issues have you had?) I think India still have the better team for their conditions.

It might be the first time in ages that you can blame it for a defeat, but poor Australian selection has abounded in recent years. Australia's selectors are no better than other teams'.

Whether excellent selection would change the results, we just don't know. It's perfectly possible it might do.

Oooh, that’s a tough one. Indian cricket has become fairly insufferable of late – seemingly a case of power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely… But then England doing what we couldn’t? Nup. That’s just not on :P
