reasonable effort by PAK- considering afridi injured when it counted.
130's was never going to be enough

This loss left a bitter taste in the mouth. If Afridi had bowled and England still won, they all fair and done. But now there is this nasty 'what if'
41 off 5 overs (30 balls). I highly doubt England would have lost with their batting sooo deep. Jordan at 10, Rashid at 11!
England hadn’t even started throwing their bat at everything yet!! They had so many guys left- Livingstone, Curran, Woakes..
And 41 off 5 is nothing thesedays. England only needed one little cameo. Just 3-4 good hits and game over. So there is no ‘what if‘ bullshit.

Congrats England on the win. A better team and as others have said runs for Pak were never enough. Proud of the team though as they tried their best.

Hope Shaheen recovers and Naseem looked good.

Been a while since I have seen a cricket match but had to watch Pak in the final.

Babar saying Afridi injury had massive impact on game and different result seems sour abit
Yes possibly saying in a heat of moment game was England to lose even with Afridi.

The turning point was his pathetic dissmissal turned a possible 170 to 137. The pitch was a little tricky for a soft middle order to get them to a competitive score in a grand final.

Congrats England, I’ll be honest coming into this tournament I didn’t see this coming at all, England hadn’t looked great in most of their bilateral series this year (I know they won in Pak and aus) and looked shaky in grouo stages, but when it mattered they played with no fear!
Curran was a revelation I thought England would struggle with death bowling and I honestly thought he wound be cannon fodder in Australia.

Also well fought Pakistan! They can be proud of that effort with the ball made 137 look like 180 whereas we made 168 look like 110.

Pakistan didn't deserve to be in the final but SA did after losing comprehensively to Netherlands. Sensible and normal train of thought.
I am stating facts. South Africa would have been ahead of Pakistan on NRR if DLS hadn’t robbed them against Zimbabwe!

South Africa lost to Netherlands and
Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe!!!

And that Zimbabwe lost to Netherlands. So much for your rational thought! Only deciding factor is NRR.

The blame lies squarely on the top order really. Babar and Rizwan chose the worst time to go missing. For the bowlers to make a game of it was nothing short of spectacular. God I ****ing love this attack. They're just fun to watch.

You sound very stupid

Yeah England having such an atypically long batting lineup makes DLS kind of under-rate them when they're chasing, especially in terms of how much it punishes them for having lost early wickets.
I feel like you have to disregard this on DLS or it’s all kind of a nonsense though. If Man City concede early they’re still behind even if you say that they’re likely to come back and win cause they’ve got the best goalscorers.

Yeah I don't think DLS should factor in the quality of the teams or the length of the batting lineups etc, I was just offering up an explanation as to why the betting odds differed from it so much.

You’re stating speculation. If not for the rain that game would’ve been completely different.

Yeah I wasn’t suggesting you thought otherwise.

To be fair, DLS does have a responsibility to keep up with data from modern games so as it knows how to properly value wickets remaining in general, so if more teams do this then it might stop underrating them in this way soon.
